🌟INVESTING IN OUR WORKFORCE🌟 We are please to introduce you to Tilly, who has come onboard as an Apprentice Support Worker - studying a level 2 in Adult Health and Social Care. Tilly was introduced to NCCN through a Health and Social Career Taster Day here earlier this year to discuss the variety of work options and career opportunities available. Wasting no time she applied immediately and we have supported her to enroll onto an apprenticeship which suits her learning style with Yorkshire Training Partnership Limited We can see Tilly doing big things in the future and look forward to seeing her flourish in her career! When we asked her why she wanted to work in Health and Social Care this is what she had to say: “The opportunity to make a positive impact on someone's life is incredibly fulfilling and rewarding. When I think about why I love doing care work and learning, one word comes to mind; connection. Care work allows me to connect with individuals on a deep personal level. Whether it's providing physical assistance, emotional support or simply being there to listen. Witnessing firsthand the transformation in people's lives in another person. It brings me so much happiness to help individuals grow, heal and thrive. Each milestone achieved, no matter how small, represents a triumph over adversity and being part of that journey is truly humbling. The sense of fulfilment I feel when I see the smile on someone's face or witness their newfound confidence can’t be put into words. Care work allows me to instill hope and make a positive difference in people's lives during their most vulnerable moments. I believe that everyone deserves compassionate care regardless of their circumstances. The sense of gratitude and appreciation I receive from those I care for is incredibly humbling. Knowing that I have played a part in improving someone's quality of life fills my heart with immense joy. It’s always great to be home in Southwest Missouri speaking to the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and highlighting the generational investments we have been able to make for all Missourians. These investments are possible because we’ve focused on what works. Getting people back to work, growing businesses, and making strategic investments in our workforce, infrastructure, and the future of Missouri. Last year, businesses invested nearly $3 billion, and our workforce grew by more than 83,000 jobs in 2022. We are seeing that same positive momentum this year. It’s important for all of you down here in Southwest Missouri to be ready and invest in those work-ready sites and have those shovels ready. Missouri is a great place for you to live, work, and raise a family. We remain a destination because we are a leader in several key areas that benefit families now and into the future. We are #1 in the United States for On-The-Job-Training. Not Texas…Not Florida…MISSOURI. In fact, our Missouri One Start program has already helped train more than 130,000 workers for companies of all sizes since its reform in 2019. We are also 2nd in the United States for our low Cost-of-Doing-Business and 2nd in the United States for Apprenticeships. When our Administration began, we were in the middle of the pack in just about everything… not any more. It’s because of what we have focused getting people back to work, raising wages, supporting front line workers, and investing in our infrastructure.

As you can see from the numbers we highlight in just some of our many accomplishments during 2023, it is clear that we are advancing toward key project and program goals. We pursue these goals because it matters to our businesses, it matters to the workforce they hire, and it matters to the customers they serve. The Boulder Chamber is working for you through: ▶️Pioneering micro-mobility advancements by playing a crucial role in making e-scooters widely available in the City of Boulder. In September 2023, Lime eScooters expanded their service area city-wide, adding over 600 scooters. ▶️Established funding for workforce housing by partnering in the campaign for passage of County Issue 1B, creating $18.5M annual funding for affordable and attainable housing county-wide and advocating for secured zoning for the addition of 426 new attainable housing units along the Diagonal Highway, a major regional workforce corridor. ▶️Expanding career pathways by adding three new apprenticeship pathways to the Boulder Chamber apprenticeship program, with 5 more in the pipeline! In 2023, we worked to foster career growth by successfully graduating 14 adult apprentices in Healthcare and Manufacturing and welcoming 10 new apprentices. As "Boomers" exit the workforce and/or prepare for retirement and as the number of emerging industries increase, young workers are critical to our economic future. The Registered Apprenticeship model can be a huge help in providing quality and engaged workers. It has all of the ingredients: mentorship, hands on and additional training, pathways to a career and is a learn and earn model. More youth and their families need to know about this valuable path. More employers need to be informed on the return on investment to their companies. More schools, indeed, higher education need to see the connection between classroom and workforce. Great job New America and congratulations to the young workers in your first-ever cohort!

We are pleased that, following sustained engagement, the Conservatives have listened to the recommendations of Family Business UK by committing to retain Business Relief in their Manifesto. Business Relief is a positive example of how essential tax reliefs can support business growth, providing family firms with a level playing field – offering an exemption from inheritance tax - and giving family business owners the confidence to focus their efforts on building their businesses over several generations and competing globally. We also welcome the commitment to 100,000 new apprenticeships and the Conservatives recognising the importance of the government working with businesses to ensure that these are in the areas and sectors most needed to fill the skills shortages that family firms are currently experiencing. We will, however, continue to highlight how the current Apprenticeship Levy is not working, is too complicated, inflexible and burdensome for family business and needs to be fundamentally reformed with a Future Skills Fund we have called for.
