🏰 Clearwater Mansion With a View. A simulated view that is.... Today, I’ve got a bizarre Clearwater, Florida mansion that, despite being two minutes from the beach, has absolutely NO windows. 🦑 So, what luxuries would you expect for a house priced at 10x that, at $3m? I’m thinking beachfront, gorgeous views, and tons of space. For our feature home today, you’ll get just one of those things, and the rest is well… simulated. The last owner, an “Indy car team owner and millionaire,” spent $1m renovating this 7k sqft, highway-adjacent residence. At 33 ft elevation, the thick concrete “fortress-like walls” mean it is unlikely to flood or sustain severe hurricane damage. But what’s with those blacked-out windows, you ask? Well, it turns out the owner has replaced all the windows with dozens and dozens of TV screens. Depending on the time of day, you can load a different beach scene or keep it at sunset all day long. (If you don’t mind a little disruption to your circadian rhythm, that is…) The listing says, “VIRTUAL REALITY WINDOWS … will take u to Space & Time of your Choosing due to $$$$$ TECH! Be in the land of childhood / Put on the RITZ on the Paris' Champs Elysées. If u prefer real WINDOWS - GC may have pre-placed proper arrangements.” In the “pro” column, this house has high-end appliances and designer furnishings (although you’ll have to shell out $49k extra for them) and a rooftop deck that actually does offer ocean views. What do you think? Are virtual windows the way of the future? Or are they a bit too dystopian for you?

As I head into my last 36 hours of having a place to call home, these are the things I am grateful for, in no particular order: 🍴A kitchen. I am grateful for kitchens! A place for friends and family to gather, talk, and share; it is also great to have access to a kitchen if one desires a meal. Of course, to make a kitchen functional in this capacity, one must have access to food, water, and utilities such as gas or electricity. 🏠Shelter. I’m definitely grateful for shelter. Having comfortable, personal shelter is an amazing gift. 🚰Water. Water is pretty much the only liquid I consume as a drink; and I am deeply grateful when I have access to clean, easily accessible water. Having easy access to clean water is essential; as the saying goes, “water is life”. 🥗Food. I am grateful for food. Not just for sustenance, it is truly a pleasure to eat. Look at that, I just wrote out the foundation of physiological needs as proposed by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Okay, so a kitchen it’s part of the needs, I just really love kitchens. 🚽A private bathroom, or, hell, a bathroom at all. Just having access to a sink and functioning toilet is pretty awesome. I am grateful for private bathrooms. 🚿A shower. Cleanliness. It’s pretty amazing what a shower can do for ones personal dignity. 🛌A bed. A place to comfortably rest. Indeed, what a beautiful thing this is. 🔌Utilities and services. I am grateful for access to electricity, clean water, gas, the internet, trash services, cell service, and fuel for my car. 🚗Transportation. Being able to freely move about. This is not only just for pleasure, it literally opens up the world, and provides opportunities. I’m not talking about plane rides here, I am talking about being able to make it to the public library for internet access, and access to water, bathrooms, electricity, and shelter. Being able to travel to a library is a gift in and of itself. I am also grateful for libraries! 🏠Belonging. When one has a place to call home, they have a place they can call their own; a place where they can feel like they belong (per the very definition of “belong”). I am grateful for having a place I belong to. I am grateful to have been guided in all of my choices; to choose to live an inspired life; to align myself with my truths; and to live in a way that is right for me. I am grateful for my path.
