The D-Tech Rotary Steerable team recently worked with a Permian Basin operator who needed to maximize drilling performance while staying on target in their 7.875-in. Martin County operation. The customer opted to utilize an RSS instead of a conventional BHA to reduce their cost per lateral foot. The D-Tech RST650 solution was recommended to complete the Wolfcamp A well. Ultimately, the RST650 drilled 12,890+ ft in 65.2 hours, using autonomous steering modes 98% of the time. This allowed the operator to reach TD with one tool and stayed on target 100% of the time. Ever heard of D-WIS before? 🤔 For the Drillbotics Competition 2024, we reached a major milestone by sharing our real rig data in real-time using DWIS's standardized interfaces. To make this happen, we had to describe all our rig signals and the rig itself using triplets (subject, verb, object) defined by the DWIS vocabulary. The result? An impressive semantic graph that gives you a detailed view of how the rig is structured. We sorted everything by assigning weights to the relationships. All modules are separated, along with their corresponding signals. And guess what? The rig’s master clock was identified as the heart of the system. The D-Tech Rotary Steerable team recently worked with a customer drilling the 9.875-in. section of a Haynesville well in Louisiana. They needed to improve performance while drilling though several challenging interbedded formations, including the Travis Peak. By combining D-Tech's new firmware, 24/7 real-time support, and high-performing RST800 rotary steerable system, the Operator was able to build to 18 degrees and hold tangent to the kick off point. This allowed them to successfully complete the section in one run. The D-Tech Rotary Steerable’s built-for-purpose RST650 continues to dominate in the Midland Basin. We recently completed a multi-well campaign drilling the 7.785 in. section on 30+ wells, saving an average of 12 hours compared to the customers' offset wells. The tool exceeded expectations with an average ROP of more than 230 ft per hour and reached TD in one run in 92% of the wells. 93% of the footage utilized autonomous steering modes, which helped enhance steering and improve drilling performance by minimalizing downlinks and reducing tortuosity. Collecting samples from subsea production lines is crucial for optimising operations and ensuring the quality of extracted fluids. With various methods available, choosing the right one depends on factors such as fluid type, operational depth, sampling frequency and the need for automation. For efficient and precise sampling, especially in deepwater, ROV-based sampling can be a feasible option.
