💡 Boston Scientific to Acquire Axonics, Inc. For About $3.7 Billion ☑ The deal marks Boston Scientific's entry into sacral neuromodulation, a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment of overactive bladder and fecal incontinence, and is the latest in efforts to scale up its urology business. ☑ Axonics, Inc.' products, such as Axonics R20 and Axonics F15, are used to deliver sacral neuromodulation therapy, which works by delivering mild electrical pulses to the sacral nerve to restore communication between the brain and the bladder. The California-based company's portfolio includes Bulkamid, a minimally invasive treatment for urinary incontinence in women. ☑ Massachusetts-based Boston Scientific has been on an acquisition spree. Our portfolio company Retinai announced today the successful closing of its USD 6.18m (CHF 5.65m) Series A Extension round. Led by a new investor, the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Topcon Healthcare, the round included Zürcher Kantonalbank alongside existing investors from both Series A and Seed rounds, Verve Ventures, the btov Industrial Technologies fund managed by Matterwave Ventures, and private investors. To facilitate its evolution and growth, the company has also concluded its corporate restructuring, with RetinAI Medical AG rebranded as Ikerian AG to spearhead the use of its technology beyond ophthalmology and the wholly-owned subsidiary Retinai U.S. Inc. focused on the ophthalmology market. The new funds will support the continued development and commercial roll out of RetinAI Discovery® in ophthalmology and optometry and Ikerian's expansion into new therapeutic areas prioritizing neurodegenerative disorders, vascular conditions and rare diseases. These funds will be used to accelerate the companies development programs to build out it's focus on retinal treatments. “We are extremely excited about the potential of our pipeline and progress to date, the expansion of our Series A round in the current fundraising environment speaks to our investors’ enthusiasm for what the EyeBio team is accomplishing" said CEO and Co-Founder David Guyer. LENZ Therapeutics and Graphite Bio have announced a definitive merger agreement to combine the companies in an all stock transaction. The combined business will focus on LENZ's presbyopia programs and will be led by Eef Schimmelpennink Ocutrx Technologies, Inc. announced the launch of 𝐎𝐜𝐮𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐳, their AR/XR headset which is designed to enhance visual clarity for people living with AMD by overlaying high-contrast images onto the user's remaining field of view compensating for the loss of central vision. "Having personally witnessed the profound effects of visual impairment within my own family, the inception of OcuLenz extends beyond technological innovation. It's a portal to a more vivid and fuller life for many" said CEO and CTO, Michael Freeman, J.D. and finally, Pixium Vision S.A. announced that a takeover offer for all assets and activities has been received. This comes after the company announced the launch of processes to find a buyer last month.
