https://lnkd.in/dseks3Z5 As South Africa Votes tomorrow, I was glued to the campaign trail. A top notch issue-based campaign! However, I was particularly interested in the opposition EFF's campaign to see how their socialist/leftist agenda is going to come out. In my assessment, there was clarity and consistency of ideas from EFF. In only a decade, the party has built itself as a formidable political force that has filled the political void on the left. In reaction, I have written this article published on my blog on EFF's journey, its ideologies, its effect on South Africa's politics as a whole, and expected fortunes in tomorrow's elections. If you can, read. 🍒

We should move away from the age of constant conflict and embrace a new era focused on people-centred governance and issue-based politics. We need to recognize that political alliances are temporary, changing based on differing ideologies and available opportunities. Regardless of our political beliefs, we must prioritize the value of life, the dignity of voters, and the importance of making informed decisions based on substantial issues rather than blind loyalty to a political party or individual. #governance #politics #leadership #africanunion #AUC

Here's a book we should all read (nearly finished) 📚 I know a lot of people in my network listen to 'The Rest is Politics' and Alastair Campbell plugs this a lot, but it covers many of the important challenges democracy faces and how we can address them. I like the quote he cites from an Australian who described populism as "the art of agitating disaffected voters to vote against their best interests by amplifying problems and not really offering anything in return." We've seen a lot of this in the UK since 2016, in particular. Mostly - almost exclusively, in fact - from the political right. We're all responsible to be aware of the signs of populism, in my opinion - and there is a formula. We also need to challenge everything as deep fakes grow in threat - alas, I expect to see that feature in elections across the world. So, read this book...and see what you can do. Have you read it? What did you think? #politics
