Success Partner at Barnhart Crane & Rigging | Provider of engineered rigging and heavy lifting solutions.
As we return to our routines after Memorial Day, it's important to carry forward the reflections and lessons this solemn day brings. Memorial Day is not just a time for barbecues and long weekends; it's a day to honor the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their legacy offers profound lessons in leadership that are valuable in both our personal and professional lives: Courage: True leaders are willing to take risks and make tough decisions, just as our servicemen and women have done. Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the determination to move forward despite it. Commitment: The unwavering dedication shown by those in service is a reminder of the importance of commitment to our teams and missions. It's about showing up consistently and giving our best effort, even when challenges arise. Integrity: Honoring one's values and principles, even in the face of adversity, is a cornerstone of effective leadership. Our military heroes exemplify integrity through their actions and sacrifices. Teamwork: Success is rarely achieved alone. Just as soldiers rely on each other, great leaders understand the power of collaboration and the importance of fostering a supportive and cohesive team environment. Service: Leadership is fundamentally about serving others. The selflessness of our fallen heroes inspires us to prioritize the well-being and development of those we lead. As we move forward this week, let's practice these principles by striving to be better leaders, committed to making a positive impact in our organizations and communities. #barnhart #rigging #engineering #innovation #solitions #safety #leadership

Jesus Lover | Husband | Dad | Servant | Leader | Kinetic Man | Coach | Aspiring Podcaster | Real Estate Investor
My children represent my greatest and most fulfilling leadership challenges... ...on par with any Navy command I've been assigned to or had the honor to lead as a Commanding Officer. I have to be intentional in: -Allowing my kids to try hard things while embracing and building upon some of their daddy's positive traits and skills. -Helping my dude realize he can do more than he thinks, to include using the spinny-projectile-shooting-whizzy tool. -Showing my guy that love is truly spelled T-I-M-E... ...our time-together investment has incalculable ROI and I'm mindful that my absence also has incalculable ROI. -Realizing that seemingly simple and menial jobs are some of the most important. Who else is going to teach my kids these lessons? And who would I want to have that responsibility? The answer is ME! My kids need their dad and their dad needs to be a dad! Embrace the honor of leadership in your home just as much as you do outside the home! Be diffent. Be better.

HR Strategist & Tech Catalyst | Uniting Human Potential & Digital Innovation | Mastering the Synergy of People & Technology | Unlocking Human Potential through Tech
This morning, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond, Chief of Navy Australia, delivered a powerful and humble keynote at the Indo-Pacific Sea Power Conference 2023, sparking a profound conversation about leadership in the context of the Navy’s pressing challenges. Chess player leadership, he shared, is about the game and the player more than the pieces. It’s a strategy of sacrifice and control, where each piece has a predefined role and limited scope. The Chess player leader is a puppet master, focused on victory often at a significant cost. Gardener leadership, as VADM Hammond advocates, is about nurturing the ecosystem—each sailor not just a piece, but a living, growing individual. It’s not about making sacrifices but cultivating potential, removing the weeds, and encouraging a thriving environment. This is the essence of cultivation leadership, transcending the boundaries of servant leadership. VADM Hammond’s journey from sailor to Chief of Navy has been marked by ‘battle scars’ and ‘scrubbing the decks,’ experiences that underpin his new leadership motto: ‘service before self.’ This ethos is essential as the Navy grapples with readiness and retention, its most significant workforce issues. Cultivation leadership suggests that by fostering growth, empowerment, and a strong, supportive culture, readiness will naturally improve, and retention will follow as sailors feel valued and see a clear path for their development. As we reflect on our leadership styles, let’s consider the implications of being a Chess leader versus a Gardener leader. How does each affect our team’s ecosystem, and how can a shift towards cultivation leadership positively impact our biggest challenges? #Leadership #Navy #CultivationLeadership #ServiceBeforeSelf #INDOPacific2023
