Lessons from a coleslaw recipe. Auntie Marcie’s coleslaw recipe calls for layering all the ingredients. The recipe then demands twice (!) in all caps - “DO NOT STIR.” Cover and refrigerate for 24-hours and Stir When Ready To Serve. I intuitively wanted to give it a quick toss. Just a bit of a stir. What may seem like a no big deal became lessons in: Trust the process and patience. So I quickly covered the cabbage and hid it in the back of the fridge. 24-hours later I uncovered the bowl and tossed. The process worked. It was delicious! Would it have been as good if I had tossed the slaw at the beginning of the recipe? I don’t know. Perhaps one day I’ll experiment. In the meantime, I’ll trust the process. 🍽 A delicious (& easy) winter recipe: Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli! I used chuck roast for this, but use whichever beef you prefer… 1. Begin by slicing the beef into 1-inch pieces. 2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, dark brown sugar, and minced garlic. 3. Place the sliced beef into the crockpot, followed by pouring the marinade over the meat. Cook on low for 6 hours 4. Add chopped broccoli during the last 30 minutes. 5. Remove 1/2 cup of the liquid from the crockpot. Whisk in 1 tsp of corn starch until smooth, then add it back into the crockpot. Allow it to simmer and thicken for an additional 5-10 minutes. #CrockpotMeals #WinterRecipes
