Unlocking Potential with Intrinsic Motivation | Facilitator Empowering Professionals for Meaningful Success
Is Your Success Fuelled by Passion or Pressure? Let's consider this for a while - Why do some professionals eagerly embrace new challenges at work, not for the promise of a pay raise or a new title, but because they genuinely thrive on meaningful accomplishments? A decade and a bit ago I stopped feeding my extrinsic motivation and turned down a high-paying promotion. To say my decision puzzled a few people was an understatement. Why did I do this? The new offer lacked the challenges and learning opportunities I loved in my current position. I had finally taken a stand in the battle of motivations. Understanding the drive behind why we work can transform our careers from mundane tasks to sources of joy and achievement. Let's look at some steps that can fundamentally change our professional lives. 1️⃣ Reflect on Your 'Why': Take time to understand what aspects of your job you genuinely enjoy. Is it solving problems, helping clients, or perhaps the creativity involved? 2️⃣ Set Growth-Oriented Goals: Focus on goals that promise personal and professional growth rather than external rewards. 3️⃣ Adopt a Learner’s Mindset: Approach every task as an opportunity to learn something new, even in failure. 4️⃣ Redefine Success: Measure success not by external achievements, but by your personal development and satisfaction. 5️⃣ Create a Supportive Environment: Surround yourself with a team that values growth and intrinsic rewards, enhancing your own motivational drives. ✅ Unleash your true potential by aligning your career with your core passions—not just the perks. How do you cultivate motivation in your career? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm Simon and thanks for reading.

Entrepreneur | Coach | Former accounting & financial planning firm owner | 4 x Founder | 💼 4,000 careers empowered | 🤝 9 figure talent solutions business > 1,100+ Global clients
Is your 5-year vision bigger than your teams' dreams and goals? If not, it's time to review this. Find out why below: When was the last time you sat down, 1-1 with your team, to find out their 5-year career and life plans? Based on working with over 1000 firm owners and what they have told me, for a lot of firm owners, the answer would be never or a long time ago. So why does this really matter? The simple answer, retaining your best talent. And the reason why, is if your team members goals and ambitions are bigger than yours, they will outgrow you, and ultimately leave. People want to be connected to something bigger than themselves. They want to see where the business is going, and more importantly where their opportunities for growth and promotion are. And if you don't have these opportunities, then the time will come where they say goodbye for someone that does. So, my advice, take 30 minutes to meet with each team member and find out their career and life plans.

The Renaissance Of Work: How To Realign Your Career To Where The Opportunities Are In case you're curious, "renaissance" is a French term that means rebirth or revival. Beyoncé's Renaissance album signifies a remarkable shift in style, marking a fresh era in her career. But what's the connection for you, you might ask? Well, here's the scoop: We're in a different era, one where cookie-cutter degrees and traditional career paths no longer guarantee a smooth ride. In this dynamic and highly specialized labor force of 2023, we quickly realize that the key to career success isn't just about what's on paper. The world has shifted, and so must we. It's about unlearning the old and relearning the new. It's about revamping and rebranding ourselves continually, because that's how the world works now. Whether you're an artist, an engineer, a manager, or an entrepreneur, the same principles of transformation that guide creatives like Beyoncé can be the key to unlocking new opportunities, accelerating your career growth, and navigating the twists and turns of a dynamic labor market.

Purpose makes the effort more valuable. The story of the "Sludge Olympics" reminds me that purpose can be found in unexpected places. How can we further infuse our work with meaning? Check out this insightful HBR post for thoughts on connecting work to service, nurturing relationships, and remembering why you work. It’s time for us to build a purpose-driven journey in the Caribbean and take others along with us. Roadtrips without company are just drives. #PurposefulWork
