AI in Recruitment—This new 49-page report offers insights on leveraging AI in recruitment and hiring while mitigating risks. The report, produced by the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology: (𝟭) 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 for recruiting and hiring. (e.g., identifying problems the AI is intended to help solve.)  (𝟮) 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to ask when seeking to procure and deploy AI technologies responsibly in recruiting and hiring processes. (𝟯) 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 (starts on p. 43). One example: a) Since asynchronous video interview analysis tools use eye detection as a proxy for engagement, it can produce discriminatory outcomes. b) One specific example cited is when a neurodivergent candidate might find it more difficult to maintain eye contact over a sustained period of time.
