As Amanda Gorman writes in her poem, "Believer's Hymn for the Republic": Today, we gather so that our Founders' words do not go diminished. But also so that the work does not go unfinished. For it's not just in a declaration of independence But the everyday declaration of its descendants That make a people equal. In observance of Independence Day, ReUp offices are closed today. This holiday offers a time to reflect on our nation’s history and take the time to consider the opportunities we all have to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future. Today, as we observe National Freedom Day on February 1st, we commemorate a pivotal moment in American history. This day marks the signing of the 13th Amendment by President Abraham Lincoln in 1865, a landmark action that abolished slavery in the United States. National Freedom Day stands as a powerful reminder of our nation's ongoing journey towards freedom and equality. It symbolizes the end of a dark chapter in American history and the beginning of a new era committed to the principles of liberty and justice for all. This day is not just about remembering the past; it's a call to recognize the progress we have made and the challenges that still lie ahead. It's an opportunity to educate, to raise awareness, and to inspire a continued commitment to the fight against racial discrimination and injustice. As we honor this significant day, let's reflect on our role in upholding these values in our communities and workplaces. Let’s carry forward the spirit of National Freedom Day, not just in remembrance, but as a continuous inspiration to build a future where freedom and equality are not just ideals, but everyday realities. 🗽 #NationalFreedomDay #Equality #Liberty #Justice #History #Future

As we celebrate the 4th of July, it's important to reflect on the meaning of freedom and recognize the distinction between this day and Juneteenth, often referred to as our second Independence Day. While the Declaration of Independence in 1776 marked the freedom of the 13 colonies from British rule, it did not extend liberty to all individuals. True freedom for Black people came two years after the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, with the final enforcement of emancipation occurring on June 19, 1865 – a day we now honor as Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all. As we commemorate these significant moments in history, let’s celebrate our progress and continue to strive for a future where freedom and inclusion are realities for everyone. Join us in recognizing both Independence Days and committing to the work of building a more inclusive and equitable society. Together, we can make a difference. #4thOfJuly #Juneteenth #FreedomForAll #CarloAndNikaWhiteFoundation #InclusionUncomplicated #Equality #Hope #Resilience

National Freedom Day commemorates the emancipation from slavery. On this day in 1865, President Lincoln officially adopted the 13th Amendment, a pivotal moment that abolished slavery in the United States. This historic amendment underscores the principles of equality and freedom for all individuals, leaving an indelible mark on American history. It is essential to recognize the profound impact of this quest for freedom, justice, and equality not only in the United States but also on Canada. The Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses, played a crucial role in the escape of enslaved individuals to freedom, with some finding sanctuary in Canada. This shared history highlights the interconnected struggle for human rights and freedom on both sides of the border. In the spirit of our collective journey towards justice and equality, National Freedom Day serves as a poignant reminder. Let's celebrate the richness of diversity that defines each of us, fostering unity in our differences as we work together for a more promising and harmonious future. Today, on Juneteenth, we pause to reflect on the profound significance of freedom and the relentless pursuit of equality. This day not only marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the US, but also reminds us of the ongoing struggles for justice and equity worldwide. In this moment of reflection, I feel deeply moved to honor the legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois, a pioneering scholar, activist, and a foundational figure of the civil rights movement. Du Bois championed a vision of democracy and equality that transcended national borders, advocating for democracy, economic and political equality that is universally accessible, irrespective or race or geography. Du Bois taught us that the quest for equality spans across organizations, nations, or eras, it’s a collective and enduring effort. His insights into the interconnectedness and interdependence of these global struggles continue to inspire those committed to these causes today; and his steadfast belief in a world where everyone can thrive and fully participate in a democratic process and equitable society serves to guide us in our actions. As we observe Juneteenth, let us embrace the lessons of our past, and renew our commitment to the future – a future where freedom and equality are realities enjoyed by all.

Today, we are urged by the Left to fight against America in the name of America. We must not be fooled! “Equality for all,” as we have seen, is not the aim of these radical leftist movements. What they want is the implementation of Marxism through equity in our free nation. Is this a sinister and purposeful attack being made by those in power? Or is it merely a misunderstanding born of ignorance? We may never know, but what we can know is that Americans deserve their God-given right to equality. We must recognize this as our battlefront as we seek to conserve our nation’s principles. Equity and equality are as different as the East is from the West (literally). The two cannot coexist, so one must overcome the other. Which will it be? If we value the words of Jefferson and the American way, we must stand firmly against Marxist movements and stand up for the right to equality, for all. #equality #equity https://lnkd.in/eUE4C4UB
