Many youth use substances like cannabis as a way to cope with mental health problems and stress. However, they often don’t know that their developing brains are highly susceptible to the adverse effects of cannabis including long-term cognitive function and mental health consequences. The California Department of Public Health worked with Rescue Agency to develop a youth cannabis prevention campaign called Mind Over Marijuana. Our ad, “Comes Back” demonstrates that while cannabis seemingly alleviates stress, it has the reverse effect in the long run. Once in a while we get the opportunity to publish articles that cover unreported subjects. Ruby's ECS and consciousness piece, Bethan's psychedelic cervix article and last night, proper on-the-ground journalism from the intrepid Niko Vorobyov. Speaking to real-life recovering addicts using cannabis to recover from heroin addiction in Durban, Niko casts some real doubt on the gateway drug theory. This is why leafie exists. https://lnkd.in/dqZvteEM

Showing Coaches & Service Providers How To Get More Clients & Leads Through Copywriting, Branding & Storytelling
Good example of an article that confuses cohort and life stage effects. The NYT reports research showing increased drinking and drug use among "middle aged" adults. Nice, racy headline! But...the numbers are based on self-reports. I suspect more people today are willing to disclose drinking and drug use. It's a big group - ages 35 to 50. Lots of within-group variance. A 35 year old in 2012 is different from a 35 year old in 2022. Increased alcohol deaths among the over-65 crowd? This group won't be there for another 30 years! https://lnkd.in/eGcX9sZ9 #statistics #cohort #bingedrinking

https://lnkd.in/d5dCV3Fu We should get concerned as a nation, looking at the statistics from NACADA on drug abuse. The glaring fact is that underage children can now access drugs through unregulated online alcohol sellers. 42.4% of Kenyans are addicted alcohol consumers and a good percentage of this are aged 25 to 35. Interestingly, the number of cannabis users has doubled compared to five years ago statistics, to 518,000+. Now, every 1 in 11 women is addicted to marijuana. This is a pandemic in-waiting and a lot of regulation, rehabilitation and advocacy has to be put in place to mitigate the economic and health risks we are staring at.

Did you guess that marijuana use can lead to lower life satisfaction, more problems in relationships, and less success in academics and careers? According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, compared to those who don't use marijuana, people who frequently use large amounts report experiencing all of these issues, as well as poorer mental and physical health. #MarijuanaAwarenessMonth #MarijuanaAwareness #NoNeedForWeed #NotDope #Trivia #Quiz #MontgomeryCountyAllianceForPrevention #MontCoPA #PAprevention #PreventionHappensHere #Prevention #MontCoPrevention #MAPtoPrevention
