WHAT a time we had at last night’s The Marketing Society Star Awards Dinner. Not only did we let our hair down and share a well-deserved drink or two with a selection of our amazing clients, we ended up with one of our most impressive award hauls in recent history! It was a hat-trick in the media category where we picked up the gold, silver and bronze awards for The Scottish Government and bet365. Our Beaver campaign for Whyte & Mackay (Woodsman) took gold in the Drink category, where we also took silver for C&C Group and Menabrea. It was gold in the Marketing in Society category for our work with Shelter & Shape History, and gold again in the Public Sector category for Cycling Scotland, in conjunction with Bright Signals. Finally, we completed the night with bronze awards in the Marketing Planning & Insights, Advertising and Food categories for ScotRail, Whyte & Mackay and Donald Russell Ltd, respectively. Thanks to The Marketing Society for putting on a brilliant night, our clients without whom award winning work wouldn't be possible and of course our wonderful Republic of Media team for delivering exceptional work day in and day out. **¨Greggs partners with AJ Bell Great Run Series for fourth year** Food-on-the-go retailer Greggs started out in Newcastle and there are 85 Greggs stores in the North East including 29 in Newcastle itself. It’s probably no surprise that Greggs regularly partners with the Great North Run. This year was the fourth year that Greggs partnered with The AJ Bell Great Run Series as the official volunteer lunch provider. The photo is of me just after completing the Great North Run last Sunday, with the Red Arrows overhead – they put on a fantastic display. The AJ Bell Great Run Series partnership plays a key role in supporting the company’s commitments to give back to local communities, as part of its pledge to build stronger and healthier communities. Greggs’ commitments are outlined in The Greggs Pledge, its annual sustainability report, which sets out its key focuses to help make the world a better place by 2025 and beyond. The Great Run Company believe that the challenge of a mass participation events provides the inspiration people need to get and stay active. They have been delivering such events for over 40 years and now cheer over 250,000 participants across finish lines annually. Through the AJ Bell Great Run Series partnership, Greggs is proud to have delivered over 18,000 lunches to the amazing volunteers working across events in the UK. In 2023 alone, Greggs will have delivered over 5,000 lunches to volunteers, each including one of our salads: a testament to the fact that 32% of our range in 2022 consisted of ‘Healthier Choice’ products. Many moons ago, our data director, Brandon de Kock was the editor of a golf magazine, and he was invited to the redesign of a top-rated golf course on a luxury estate. All was going well until they got to the picturesque 18th hole and its island green, literally surrounded on all sides by water... President's Choice's #EatTogether campaign. Their 2017 video, launched for Canada's 150th anniversary, went viral. It showcased the importance of breaking away from distractions and reconnecting over shared meals. President's Choice, known for food, saw this as a chance for more. #EatTogether wasn't just about groceries, it was about community. They hosted events and a Canada Day celebration. This campaign is a perfect example of how a simple idea can have a huge impact. It's got me fired up to learn more about marketing this semester and see how we can use it to bring people together, not just push products.
