June 19th, 1865, marks the day that all enslaved people were made aware of the Emancipation Proclamation and officially released from their bonds. As much as it marks a celebration of freedom, Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, is also a reminder of delayed freedom and systemic inequity. Let today provide an opportunity to reflect on how we can move forward and inspire the continued fight for justice reform and equity for all. ReMerge will be closed Wednesday, June 19th in celebration and commemoration of the Juneteenth holiday. #juneteenth #freedomday #okc #diversion #justicereform

National Freedom Day commemorates the emancipation from slavery. On this day in 1865, President Lincoln officially adopted the 13th Amendment, a pivotal moment that abolished slavery in the United States. This historic amendment underscores the principles of equality and freedom for all individuals, leaving an indelible mark on American history. It is essential to recognize the profound impact of this quest for freedom, justice, and equality not only in the United States but also on Canada. The Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses, played a crucial role in the escape of enslaved individuals to freedom, with some finding sanctuary in Canada. This shared history highlights the interconnected struggle for human rights and freedom on both sides of the border. In the spirit of our collective journey towards justice and equality, National Freedom Day serves as a poignant reminder. Let's celebrate the richness of diversity that defines each of us, fostering unity in our differences as we work together for a more promising and harmonious future. This dialogue is powerful re: msg. Something to think about. It is a clip from a 1960s movie (title unsure of). It looks like a dialogue re: Civil Rights Movement re: Liberation is how you get to peace. This is transferable to the professional sphere. E.g. the idea of "peace" when people identify inequities. Ever had an executive say: "well everyone seems to be doing well" or "everyone gets along" (re: Equity work or when someone identities a problem)? ----> You can have inequities and still have "peace". Things need to be shaken, discomfort is necessary, for change to occur. In order for equality to be real, equity must exist. And for equity to exist, actions are necessary, which requires different actions and norms. #Peace #Justice #Equity #Change

The Black community has celebrated Juneteenth for decades, but it was only three years ago this day became a federal holiday. That declaration served as a call to action for everyone to recognize Juneteenth, as a day to reflect on the legacy of slavery and engage in long-overdue work for racial justice. There are still signs that our institutions continue to systematically undervalue Black lives and experiences: - Black women face one of the largest pay gaps of any demographic group, earning just 62 cents for every dollar paid to white men in similar roles. - Job applicants with white-sounding names get 50% more callbacks than identical job applicants with Black-sounding names. - There are only two Black women CEOs in the Fortune 500. I hope you take active steps to bridge the diversity, equity, and inclusion gaps within your own companies.
Also known as Freedom Day, #Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the horribly delayed emancipation of enslaved people in Confederate states. Despite its significance, common myths and misunderstandings surrounding the holiday still persist. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gdPwZ_eC

#leadership Why do I say as an intellectual that the founding of the United States is genius? 1. Declaration of Independence of July 04, 1776: enumerates three simple values of a society, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness with the consent of the people of the Colonies, the consent of the governed, given to the intellectual elites, the Fouunding Fathers, to talk to the British empire on their behalf to secure independence. 2. By September 17, 1787 the framework to realize these values as a society is encapsulated in another simple document consisting of few rules and a set of 10 Amendments known as Bill of Rights following the original signing of the Constitution giving every individual equal rights to hold the representatives accountable by delegating power to them in the political hierarchy both by political power and through payment of a wage to represent: A Constitution with Separation of Powers, with the equal capacity to check each other’s power to ensure the general welfare, safety, and national security, in representation of the voting population. The Constitution’s intent was to give the people a framework of laws and a process to follow for the society to evolve over time to fully realize the values in the Declaration. This is the core principle of “the consent of the governed” meaning ‘ask us, all equal citizens of the United States of America, poor or rich, take our permission, and then do as we tell you to do after we evaluate the options you present to us as our representatives for which we are paying you a living wage. You have no freedom to do whatever you want’. This is our right we granted ourselves as a free people both from the British at our founding and from our government representatives after the founding. 3. This framework was communicated to all citizens using the freedom of speech of the First Amendment under the nom de plume “Publius” by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay in the Federalist Papers transparently, not as today’s Top Secret/Secure Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI), in the form of newspaper columns for America and the world to know, friend and foe alike, about the goings on in the United States. 4. This simple framework of nature, knowing the biology of DNA we know today or the simple alphabet of linguistics or the few fundamental notes of music, used to enable practical self-government is repeated like a pattern in fractal geometry in computer science and the recursive self-organizing algorithms of the DNA in biology and of today’s artificial intelligence to learn, adapt, and evolve by an amendment process, in states and localities for the country to be an agile, intelligent, and learning society, like life itself, to ensure survival, not ossified in time when you die.
#leadership All that an American needs to do is follow it honestly and diligently, using our rights to check each other’s power to ensure the classless social equality in the Declaration without the need for the bureaucratic Platonic fascism or Marxism which came a century later. The founders knew nothing of the complexities and details of today’s reductionist natural sciences. Why do we need giant, inflexible, self-aggrandizing bureaucratic organizational structures whether in a corporation or in the government, which work to restrict freedom rather than liberate? Adam Grant, https://lnkd.in/ecijKa8V. Learn from the ways of nature and keep it simple, stupid.

February 1 is National Freedom Day. This is a reminder of our ongoing journey toward liberty, justice, and equality. This day not only honors the progress we've made but serves as an inspiring call to continue our efforts for a just and equitable future. However, according to the latest Global Estimates of Modern Slavery from Walk Free, the International Labour Organization, and the International Organization for Migration: 49.6 million people live in modern slavery in the forms of forced labor and forced marriage. As we commemorate National Freedom Day, let's reflect on the progress we've made and recommit ourselves to the pursuit of true equality. The struggle for freedom and justice continues, and together, we can contribute to a more just and equitable future for all. #NationalFreedomday #Freedom #EndModernDaySlavery #EqualityForAll
