Recare has raised 3.2 million euros 💥 for the expansion of the marketplace 🚀 Big news: In times when the topic of digital health financing is becoming more and more difficult, Recare appreciate this all the more. 🤝 Owing the fresh capital to both existing investors and a loan from Gilion – the leading European platform for growth financing for start-ups and scale-ups. 🎯 The funding will allow them to expand the marketplace and focus even more on launching the digital discharge management solutions to improve patient follow-up processes at a crucial time in the digital transformation of the German healthcare system. In the final phase of the KHZG implementation, penetrating the discharge management market is their top priority. 🚨 🆕 Emergency medical response company RED.Health is in talks to raise around $27 million in its Series B round from a host of investors, DealStreetAsia has learnt. While new investors such as Jungle Ventures and Alteria Capital are expected to join the startup’s cap table in the proposed funding round, its existing backers HealthQuad and HealthXCapital are also expected to top up, said multiple sources privy to the development. Founded in 2006, the company provides quick medical assistance including ambulance services and telemedicine. RED.Health has a fleet of over 274 ambulances and a presence in more than 16 cities. The company saw its business boom during the COVID-19 pandemic but has since experienced a downturn. According to Indian media reports, the Kalaari Capital-backed company was said to be struggling to clear staff salaries earlier this year. Another one bites the dust..... Olive AI for health systems, the darling of VC, shut down its operations and selling it assets. The startup was one of digital health’s largest unicorns, raising over $800M in venture funding and touting a valuation of $4B at its peak. Olive’s unfortunate closure reflects several trends in the past 2 years. Like some other highly-valued digital health businesses, Olive’s self-described “fast-paced growth and lack of focus” in 2021 led to bloated operations and cash constraints, triggering layoffs and asset sales. Operational challenges of a company stretched thin across multiple focus areas led to client losses and the eventual closure of the business. Now, Olive is being sold for parts to revenue cycle management player Waystar and to Humata Health, a new startup led by Olive's former president (who seems to be taking a page from the former Pear Therapeutics CEO's book).

In whatever business occupation that I choose to be in, the main factor that drives me is bringing real benefits to clients and users. This is not to say that financial gains are unimportant, but bringing gains in some form or another is paramount in my work, and I always aim for this. Some of you may have noticed that about me. And with that, I have recently become a co-founder of MedPlanner Sdn Bhd. What began as giving a helping hand to do the financial and business plan for the reboot of MedPlanner, it dawned on me over a month's involvement that this service will ultimately benefit clinical patients, and perhaps even help life-and-death situations, I kid you not. It will be the first of its kind here. So, at the invitation of MedPlanner's original founder and CEO Dr Ezam Mat Ali, and early investor Ahmad Shahizam Mohd Shariff, I gladly accepted. Another new co-founder, Hemy Sorfina Halim, in charge of our go-to-market effort is well-connected in the target market and has a strong will to win. And she is winning already. We are most fortunate to have Hemy. And not least, we have Lilyana Abdul Latiff, who needs no introduction in the Malaysian IT industry, a successful technopreneur, my friend of a quarter century, is also a new co-founder. What a bonus. Because of that, I already feel at home. Wish me good luck, friends and colleagues, for I will do my level best like I have done several times before, towards success in my past work and business.
