February is National Cancer Prevention Month. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 1.9 million people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. Nearly half of those diagnoses are breast, prostate, lung, pancreas, or colon cancers. And yet, more than 40 percent of all cancer diagnoses can be linked to a preventable cause - nearly half. Take prevention seriously in February by supporting research, encouraging your loved ones to join you on a journey of prevention and speaking to your doctor about your risk factors. September is Pediatric cancer Awareness Month, a time to reflect on the brutal status quo of pediatric cancer treatments and what we can do, together, to make things better for kids fighting cancer. How did it get this way? Resources funding pediatric cancer research are limited. Just 4% of federal research dollars are allocated for pediatric cancer each year. There is more research and innovation for adults than for kids. Since pediatric cancers are different than adult cancers, giving children adult cancer therapies results in multiple life-threatening side-effects to cancer treatments. Donate today to help us create solutions that fit the children in our community. Please reshare this post. Every step towards our goal is progress.
