🎉 It’s a day of celebration at Regard: We have reached 3,000,000 diagnoses made by Regard and accepted by doctors!!! Three million diagnoses that help clinicians unlock the full value of patient data, including undiagnosed conditions, critical context, and medications that are no longer missed.
It took us 2.5 years to hit 1 million diagnoses, 11 months to hit 2 million and only 5 months to hit 3,000,000! There’s something special going on at Regard and we thank our entire team and our partners for making this milestone possible. The journey to world class healthcare continues! 🚀

The term "unicorn" was coined to describe startup companies that achieve a billion+ dollar valuation. In the salad days of 2020-2022, the term lost its meaning as several health tech companies reached that magical number through unhinged valuations. The harsh realities of the current environment have reminded us that unicorns are, in fact, mythical creatures. Perhaps it's time to shift focus from the talkers to the doers.
Full disclosure: I'm a proud Healent Health advisor and investor. Healent will always have a special meaning to me as my first angel investment and the company whose journey I've tracked most closely. There's building in "stealth," and then there's quietly pivoting, iterating, building, and evolving in plain sight. Healent has achieved the latter.
Completely organic growth. A fantastic team and product. Two of the largest Pain Practices in the US as partners. No flashy conferences, slick marketing promotions, or smoke and mirrors. Unprecedented traction for a company that has been bootstrapped and backed only by angel investors to this point. Incredible validation from customers -- all of whom are frontline providers who understand healthcare, not benefits managers.
Congrats to Anoop Adya, Mike Palackdharry, and the Healent team for their achievements. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Anoop and Mike on a personal level. Both are driven yet humble. When Mike talks about Medicine 3.0 and big audacious dreams, it comes from a place of determination, vision, and confidence, not bravado.
Healent is one to watch.

Chief Executive Officer / Board Director Healent Health
When you enter Healthtech as an entrepreneur from outside of healthcare, you do it because you are truly passionate about improving patient care through technology innovation. In our case, @ Healent Health, we believed we could help physicians optimize their practices, innovate, and collaborate with patients to improve treatment pathways with 24x7 data insights. We call it Medicine 3.0. It was a big audacious dream.
It's been an amazing journey and I want to thank our early adopter practices, focused on chronic pain and MSK recovery, for helping us evolve the physician/patient relationship. This past week we signed one of the largest practices in the country to launch our platform across their footprint. We are humbled and honored that our vision is shared by provider practices that embrace technology innovation, AI, and true patient collaboration to improve treatment protocols.
This is a tough time to be a SaaS startup trying to navigate the venture community, but it sure helps when customers join the ranks of supporters. As one doctor told me when they signed with Healent, “we are building pyramids”.
A big thank you to Saumitra Thakur from MedMountain Ventures for sharing his experiences as an MD turned venture capitalist with members of the Graduate Healthcare Club at Stanford University.
Some takeaways:
-Digital health start-ups that build for providers need to involve them early in the design process, as providers are resistant to changes in clinical workflows.
-Derisk commercialization early; utilize existing reimbursement models if possible rather than creating novel ones, especially as an early stage start-up and when not well capitalized.
-Regulatory trends in Generative AI will influence a new class of start-ups, similar to EHR adoption post-HITECH act.
-The shift towards value-based care means that data fidelity, particularly for skilled nursing and other home health agencies with a huge documentation burden, will become increasingly important.
-Medicare Advantage plans are fatigued by the proliferation of point solutions. How could future start-ups consolidate their offerings to make their solution more attractive?

Ever tried to revolutionize healthcare and felt like you're climbing Everest?
The #healthtech#startup ecosystem is a dynamic beast. It’s not just about having cutting-edge technology; it’s about understanding patient needs, navigating regulatory landscapes, and building trust with healthcare professionals. My advice? Focus on small wins. Validate early and often. Engage directly with your end-users—patients, doctors, nurses—to refine your product iteratively. Remember, in healthtech, #empathy isn't just a buzzword; it's the foundation of innovation.
