Guess what happened today that totally blew my mind? So, I was just going about my business at work when I turned around to help a customer, and guess who it was? Jessica from my White House | Black Market days! Talk about a blast from the past! It was such a pleasant surprise to see her, and as we caught up, it got me thinking about our time at WHBM. You know, it struck me that a lot of people know how much I love visuals, and Jessica played a huge role in igniting that passion in me. She was the one who really introduced me to the whole visual space thing. Thanks to her influence, I was able to make a smooth transition from working on visuals at WHBM to doing the same at Victoria’s Secret, all while excelling in sales. And let's not forget my stint as the Merchandise Team Leader at Aerie before landing the gig as Store Manager. Jessica was like the spark that set off this whole exciting journey of exploring how far I could take my merchandising skills and sales prowess. It's funny how these little chance encounters can make you reflect on how far you've come, right? It's moments like these that make me appreciate the journey and the people who have been a part of it. How to become a personal Brand in a competitive Job Market We all are aware of the power of Brand in the consumer landscape.   Coke, Nike, Zara are household name Brands. They have made the owner of the Brand or the shareholder very wealthy.   In the current employment landscape, we need to think about our career in a similar fashion.  We need to create a unique value proposition, and the same needs to be conveyed to the employment landscape.  As far as I am concerned, to become a Brand, you need a great product consistently, and the same needs to be conveyed to the masses.  Ironically, in today's highly competitive job market, every employee is a product – we need to make sure that we are not just a generic product.    But a Brand.  This we can try to build based on your experience, passion, and the opportunity that one wants to create for oneself.  We shall be masters in a niche expertise, and that niche positioning shall solve a problem for the employer - and that is our brand.    Having said this, I would like to mention that there is a distinct difference between human and consumer products.    All 8 billion + people in this world are already a Brand, as nature has uniquely created each one of us.  We need to identify that uniqueness and bypass the competition.  Start identifying your unique strengths today and position yourself as the brand every employer needs! #PersonalBranding #CareerGrowth #UniqueValue #JobMarketSuccess #StandOut

First step: DECATHLON After graduating, I encountered the typical challenge faced by many recent students – finding an entry point for career advancement. Eventually, in 2014, I joined the exceptional team at DecathlonRussia as a store department manager. I am immensely grateful to Denis Akhmetshin, my first manager and a natural leader, who placed his trust in me and guided me through the challenging process of stepping into a significant role. During my work at the big Decathlon store in Saint-Petersburg, I hired, led and motivated a team of up to 25 salespersons across diverse departments during peak seasons, got acquainted with the sales process, commercial policy, endless retail nuances and customer-oriented driven-management. Over a span of three years, we achieved remarkable results, recording a 210% department turnover growth and securing the best net margin nationwide. Furthermore, we expanded the store by an impressive 1500 square meters, continuously innovated, and always kept our mission to foster a passion for sports in every client. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of my time at Decathlon was promoting three members of my sales team into department managers. Decathlon's unique corporate culture emphasizes the significance of team member promotions, placing them at the heart of the organization. It is truly a rare sight to witness such a work environment, where employees genuinely receive the utmost care and attention, and it is assumed that a happy salesman means a happy customer. Decathlon's commitment to its employees is exemplified through a huge amount of diverse training opportunities, amazing team-building activities, regular one-to-one meetings, and comprehensive annual reviews that aid in building personal development strategies. The added incentive of becoming a company shareholder further contributes to a thriving corporate culture and thus the realization of global company goals. While I deservedly obtained prospects for further growth within the company, these opportunities required relocating to a different city, which was not an option for me at that time. Consequently, I had to explore alternative career pathways. Nevertheless, my close association with Decathlon International persists, as I have forever become its devoted customer. As I close in on my fifth month at First Retail Group, I'm taking a brief moment to pause. A gentle reminder, for all of us, to celebrate the wins and embrace the lessons learned from the misses. Performance Management System introduced 5. 50+ new hires 6. 1 award of bid for a new strategic location 7. 1 new brand partnership confirmed 8. 1 store reopening - Miniso, Gulf City Mall 9. 1 new brand, new store opening - Levi's East Gates Mall 10. 2 new store openings - Miniso Trincity Mall and Miniso Westmall And yes, there were LOTS of missteps, missed deadlines and outright misses.
