Today is GIVING TUESDAY!!! This year for Giving Tuesday I have decided to become a Champion Crowdfunder to help raise funds for Providing Access: Neuropsych Testing & Clinical Evaluations Fund. Donations to this campaign will help to provide access and opportunities to students with disabilities at the University of Michigan. For more information about the campaign, and to donate, please visit here: https://lnkd.in/gcGQxXVr More about the fund: Students often tell us they’re unaware of available testing and accommodations that could have helped them succeed in the classroom and/or that they are facing financial barriers when seeking essential testing and evaluations. Delayed diagnosis affects students’ academic success and overall well-being, limiting their ability to thrive in the academic environment. Many lower-income students lack resources to afford diagnostic testing, and long wait times for free or reduced-price assessments hinder their access to accommodations. Additionally, if students are applying for the MCAT, LSAT, and other national assessments, the testing bodies have firm requirements for the documentation they will accept for students to be approved for accommodations. SAAS is working to close these gaps—and we need your help. By supporting this program, donors can remove these barriers, providing equal access to resources and accommodations, enabling students to excel academically and pursue their career aspirations. Contributions will directly cover evaluation costs, reduce wait times and promote equity in education through student scholarships and funding.

With the investigation into the use of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete in school buildings, AI and its impact on the workforce, mega multi-academy trusts (MATs) becoming more prevalent as a means for school collaboration and the debate about charitable status for independent schools, it has been a turbulant few months for the education sector. Our Autumn/Winter edition of Education Matters explores all these topics. Read the newsletter here: https://bit.ly/3Mp3QAC #Education #Newsletter #LegalUpdate

Donating a car specifically to a museum like Miles Through Time Automotive Museum isn’t for everyone but there are a few good reasons to do it. First, donating a vehicle helps the museum and can share the donor's story with thousands of visitors. This is a great way for legacies to live on. Second: there is a financial benefit for the donor. Depending on the donor’s tax bracket a well-appraised vehicle could have significant value that can reduce the donor's taxable income and could be a huge difference when it comes to the taxable income percentage. Vehicles valued over $5k have to be professionally appraised when they are donated and it could mean significant tax savings while helping a museum at the same time. https://lnkd.in/dKHKT4Y

Impact - it's in our DNA as a business to do good things for our industries. Last year, we invested over £80,000 in Colleges, Schools, and other good causes for a range of things from toolkits to staff incentives and rewards and student celebrations. This year, I would like to target that impact in the most efficient way and ensure it reaches those who need it, we can do the same again or we could mix it up. So my question this morning is, if you are a client of Dovetail & Slate | B Corp™, Prince Talent & Resourcing | B Corp™ Innotech Partners | B Corp™ Talentia Group | B Corp™ - how do you want us to support your goals this year? Quick recap of the good things we did 60 Dewalt Drill and Hand Tool Kits donated to Technology Centres £30,000 donated for Student and Staff Awards £12,000 to various charitable causes for early education or community impact. 6 CPD Events were provided free to the industry or community What can we do to make your year, a better year? Sharing a gorgeous what I call second-hand sunset, I can see it out the back of the apartment but I get to watch it twice as it settles over Manchester. Some things matter more than others. This is one of those. Even invisible barriers need someone to break through. When a team of women steps up and claims a spot, progress is made. Big or small, it is this progress that allows us to believe that better is possible and that equity is within reach. And when it is done to not only break down barriers, but also to fight for a cause that is incredibly important to so many - and to me personally - we all need to get behind them. By helping Madeline Pooley of Simply Asset Finance, Caterina Di-Sapia of Alfa Financial Software, Lisa David of RENAISSANCE ASSET FINANCE LIMITED, Hannah O. of United Trust Bank Limited, Morgan Poulter MAAT of United Trust Bank Limited and Alexandra McWilliams of Simply Asset Finance raise funds for Cancer Research UK (CRUK), we join them in making a difference. Backed by incredible generosity from Alfa Financial Software and Lendscape, the Leasing Lionesses are playing in The Simply Cup on the 11th of January against 25 other teams from the industry. To me, they are already winners. Cheer them on in the #simplycup and donate using this link 👇 #cancerresearchuk

I am beyond excited to introduce our all-women, industry wide, 5-a-side football team that has been formed specifically for The Simply Cup! Meet the other Leasing Lionesses! 🦁⚽ Madeline Pooley - Simply Caterina Di-Sapia - Alfa Financial Software Lisa David - RENAISSANCE ASSET FINANCE LIMITED Hannah Oades - United Trust Bank Limited Morgan Poulter MAAT - United Trust Bank Limited We are a mixed bag when it comes to ability, but we all have the same mission, which is to give our opponents a run for their money on the pitch and to make events like this a space for everyone. I want to say a huge thank you to Simply Asset Finance who have created the space for collaboration and inclusivity. Secondly to our generous sponsors Alfa Financial Software & Lendscape, who together have helped sponsor our kit and have donated to the incredible cause Cancer Research UK (CRUK). It is so amazing to have a group from all across our industry collaborate for such an important cause. If you’d like to donate to Cancer Research UK, and towards the total pot for the Simply Cup, you can do via this link: https://lnkd.in/eW82C3Gz Any donation big or small will be hugely appreciated and will certainly give us some motivation to get training!

A short video from Sam here, as the sun is starting to transform his world, but prior to sunrise. 🌅 • His repeater dials (so called because they repeat some of the core information from the proper computer inside the cabin), are a major focus for Sam as he rows along. 👀 • He can set himself mini challenges; x amount of miles by sunrise, keep above 3.0 knots, etc. And those little targets are the small steps towards achieving his monumental goal of rowing the Atlantic! 🌊🚣♂️ • This moment, where the sky is lit, but the sun is below the horizon, most of us know as twilight - but there are actually three types of twilight. - Civil twilight (what we're seeing here) where the sun is up to 6 degrees below the horizon. - Nautical twilight, where the sun is up to 12 degrees below. - Astronomical twilight where the sun is up to 18 degrees below. • Largely unnoticed by the majority of us, but Sam will notice the difference in every degree out here as he rows through the night. 😯 • Sam is rowing to raise money for UnLtd - sponsorship opportunities are still available, please get in touch today, either by e-mailing sam@entrepreneurship2023.co.uk or messaging us on social media. 👍 • Online charitable donations can be made at https://lnkd.in/e2FS5ksi 🌐 • Proudly sponsored by: Tors Park Patchway Studios SG Capital Partners Thomas Gibson Fine Art DWP Housing Partnership • #TES2023 #atlantic2023 #worldstoughestrow #theentrepreneurship #theentrepreneurship2023 #oceanrowers #oceanrowing #adventure #voyage #unltd #socialentrepreneurs #charity #fundraising #solo

As you may have read in the press, Reading Football Club has reluctantly withdrawn from the Barclays Women’s Championship for the 2024-25 season, with the Women’s First Team now moving to Tier 5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid. This came as a huge disappointment for all connected with the Club. Whilst the Club recognises and encourages the huge rise in popularity and commercialisation of the Women’s game, it unfortunately does not have the required finances to increase investment into Reading FC Women. The decision clearly impacts our community, gender equality and the Club’s heritage. Also, the progress of local women’s football. Reading has been amongst the elite of the Women’s game for many years. Competing admirably alongside the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United in previous seasons despite being one of the only clubs outside of the Premier League. Furthermore, we are proud of the role Reading FC Women has played in nurturing and developing the grassroots game, providing role models for young girls aspiring to become professional footballers and a pathway for those future stars to achieve a professional career within football. This solution, however, does provide the Club with the opportunity to continue to operate a Women’s Football department, but this does require investment from parents and local businesses. We are now evaluating the option to move the Under 14 and Under 16 Girls Academy to operate under Reading FC Community Trust with a similar structure and coaching team. We want to ensure we continue our support for the girls who continue to demonstrate passion and commitment to football and have been selected by Reading FC to continue their football journey. If you are a local business to Reading Football Club would you have budget to be able to support the Girls Academy for the 2024/25 season? An investment of just £10,000 will ensure this becomes a viable option and not only will you be able to promote your support of a local community initiative but women’s football in general. We would be happy to discuss what branding and sponsorship options you would require for your organisation.

THE most important article I’ve ever written. Reading FC Community Trust are seeking to save the U16’s & U14’s team by bringing them under their umbrella but they need donations to do so. I spoke to Emma Hopkins, Emerging Talent Lead, and Chris Berry, Player Development Lead & Funded Programmes Officer on why they’re doing it. #readingfc https://t.co/kq9NgoPsOZ
