We had a client recently that had done a fantastic job at targeting the 25-45 aged audience with their messaging. They had done such a good job that they were struggling to sell more products into that group because so many of the cohort had already made a purchase. We conducted audience analysis that showed the 50+ age group made up nearly 40% of their target audience, and they were doing very little to engage that group. From a marketing standpoint, it always seems more exciting to target the younger demographics. Brands would do well to remember not only the massive size of older generations but also the massive amount of purchasing power they have.
