🌐 On 21-23 May, the #GlobalFashionSummit 2024 Edition took place in Copenhagen and was hosted by the Global Fashion Agenda, where some of the most important players in the fashion industry discussed sustainability in the fashion industry. If you didn't get the chance to discover what was discussed at this event's conference, keep reading and discover the key takeaways🔽: 🔄 Transition from Linear Business Models to Circular business models: The fashion industry must change its mind about promoting circular-based business models instead of the current selling-more business model. 🤝 Collaboration as a Key Solution: Authorities, fashion brands, textile retailers, supply chain suppliers, or ONG must work together to define new strategies to promote real changes which involve all the fashion industry players and new business models where everyone benefits. ♻️ Boosting Recycling: The textile industry must invest and implement new recycling technologies to attract fashion brands. Current numbers about textile products' recycling are worrying; just 1% of old garments are actually recycled. 💡 Investing in Innovative Materials: Circular-based fibres can accelerate the fashion industry's transition to a circular economy. Together with new recycling innovations, investing in materials is one of the most important areas to invest in changing the textile industry. ℹ️ Increase Transparency: Transparency is one of the most important circular principles, so brands and retailers must increase their products and processes transparency for consumers and authorities. 🚀 Empowering Consumers: Consumers' Role in fashion's circular transition is vital. The more educated and environmentally-conscious consumers will increase sustainable product demands, boosting circular-based brands. 🧠 Changing Industry's Mindset: Due to the climate emergency, the industry must act urgently. It is not about empty promises or sustainable marketing slogans, our planet needs changes and real actions to reduce carbon emissions and other environmental-damaging consequences of our impact. 🛑 Stopping oversupplying and overconsumption: One of the most polluting practices of the fashion industry is oversupply and overconsumption. This situation causes tons of textile waste which must be reduced. ⚖️ Sustainability Regulations: Authorities must regulate unsustainable practices to fight against them. For example, the EU planned the Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textile, emphasising designer responsibility and ecodesign requirements for durability and repairability. At Recovo, we are always up-to-date with the latest textile industry news. We invite you to join our Circular Fashion journey and discover more about how the industry is transitioning to Circular Economy.

5 minutes, five links on sustainability in fashion At Sustainable Crowd, we firmly believe in the power of collective learning. Our new "5 minutes, 5 links" section during our monthly LUNCH sessions serves as a curated repository of insightful links o Here are five links that we shares in last week's session: 🌍 According to the report: Environmental assessment of Swedish clothing consumption By Mistra Future Fashion the most impactful intervention is to use garments longer. "Longer use of garments was found to be a very effective intervention – twice as many uses per garment life-cycle eliminated almost 50% of impact regardless of impact category." (P.116) With impact category they mean carbon emissions, water use, toxicity and land use. Eventhough this does not directly say anything about the decarbonization potential of repair, it still is an indicator for repair helping to extend the lifetime and thus reduce carbon emissions effectively. 🌍 The Or Foundation is the facilitator of the Stop Waste Colonialism Campaign, but the Kantamanto Community is the driving force. It´s about leveraging extended producer responsibility to catalyze a justice-led circular textiles economy. 🌍 Stay up to date for Legislations concerning the textil industry with HEY FASHION 🌍 How we can measure durability? The University of Leeds conducted a research with the result that that retail price can’t be used to predict which garments are going to last longer than others. 🌍 5 Takeaways from The World is on Fire But We’re Still Buying Shoes. The fashion industry is facing enormous challenges, but with challenges come opportunities. After 15 years in the industry and many lessons learned from starting my own sustainable brand and consultancy firm, I've truly experienced both the hurdles and the potential for positive change. One of the biggest challenges is finding sustainable materials and ensuring that production is environmentally friendly. For example, the global market for organic cotton grew by 31% in 2020, reflecting a significant shift towards more sustainable raw materials, according to the Textile Exchange. It's not always easy, but by working closely with our suppliers and setting high standards, we can make a significant difference. Additionally, we need to get better at managing waste and overproduction. The fashion industry produces an estimated 92 million tons of textile waste annually, as reported by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Investing in recycling and creating circular business models is essential to reducing this waste. Transparency is another major issue; ensuring that materials are sourced responsibly requires a lot of effort and cooperation across the supply chain. Brands like Everlane, with their “Radical Transparency” campaign, show how detailed information about factory conditions and material sourcing can build consumer trust. The transportation of our products is also a significant challenge in terms of carbon emissions. The Global Fashion Agenda reports that transportation accounts for 10% of the fashion industry's carbon footprint. There's a lot we can do here to optimize and choose more eco-friendly options, such as carbon-neutral shipping methods. For me, sustainability in fashion is truly my passion. Running businesses that are not only successful but also good for the planet is what motivates me every day. I strongly believe in the power of collaboration and strong relationships within the industry and across industries. Building long-term relationships with suppliers who share our sustainability goals is key. By working together, we can reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable future for the industry. What challenges have you faced in making fashion more sustainable? If you're interested in talking more about sustainability in fashion or if you have any ideas on how we can collaborate, please reach out! I love discussing new opportunities and how we can make a difference together. #Sustainability #Fashion #BusinessDevelopment #Environment #Climate #CircularEconomy #SustainableMaterials #Recycling

Sustainable fashion is a movement within the industry that aims to minimize environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and ensure economic viability. It challenges the conventional "take-make-dispose" model by advocating for circularity, resource efficiency, and ethical sourcing throughout the supply chain. In recent years, the urgency of sustainable fashion has become evident due to its role in exacerbating global challenges such as climate change and social inequality. By prioritizing longevity, quality, and mindful consumption, sustainable fashion seeks to mitigate these negative impacts while fostering creativity and innovation. The importance lies in its potential to reconcile profitability with environmental stewardship and social justice. Through practices like organic farming, water conservation, and fair labor, fashion brands can reduce their carbon footprint and uphold human rights. Moreover, by championing transparency and accountability, sustainable fashion empowers consumers to make informed choices and drive systemic change across industries. It represents a paradigm shift that requires collective action from all stakeholders. By embracing sustainability, the fashion industry can create a more inclusive, resilient, and responsible future for people and the planet. However, achieving this vision will require collaboration, commitment, and continued innovation. Only by working together can we build a fashion industry that is both beautiful and sustainable, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come. #sustainablefashion

My Green Resolutions for 2024: Rethinking Fashion for a Greener Future As a supporter of eco-friendly fashion practices. My journey? It's been a real eye-opener, packed with personal growth and a ton of insights. Choosing to leave my comfortable career path for a more challenging mission, I've set my sights on steering the fashion industry towards a greener future, particularly focusing on the leather and textile sectors. As we kick off the New Year, I'm doubling down on my commitment to collaborate with organisations that share my enthusiasm for a greener, more sustainable fashion world. 2024 is about rolling up our sleeves and working together to achieve measurable progress. Here are my green resolutions for the year: Sharing Knowledge on Sustainable Practices. This year, I'm all in on spreading the word about green fashion. Think of me as your go-to expert for sustainable style. I've lined up a series of webinars and articles, all aimed at sharing knowledge about eco-friendly fashion to help the industry speed up its green commitments. Innovative Solutions to Reduce Synthetic Materials. The negative impact of synthetic materials on our environment is undeniable. My focus will be on researching and promoting eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, hemp, and bamboo. These alternatives not only have a significantly lower environmental footprint but are also key to our industry's sustainable transformation. Collaborations Across Industries. Innovation often comes from collaboration. This year, I'm eager to explore partnerships that go beyond fashion, reaching into the automotive and furniture industries, to exchange ideas and boost our trajectory towards a greener future. Promoting Circular Fashion Embracing circular fashion is crucial to reducing the influx of products in the market. This involves developing new business models like rental, reuse, and recycling, and designing garments with their end-of-life in mind, significantly reducing waste. Sustainable Supply Chain Transparency Achieving transparency in the complex supply chain is essential. I will continue championing initiatives that ensure traceability and support ethical practices at every stage of production. To ensure 2024 marks a year of progress for the fashion and textile industry towards a greener economy, I'll be offering personalised and company-wide training sessions. These sessions will cover circular design principles, material innovations, and strategies for minimising environmental footprints throughout the product lifecycle. What are your resolutions? #innovation #sustainablefashion #sustainability #circulareconomy #webinar #slowfashion #bitcoin #traceability

In our modern world, the choices we make as consumers have far-reaching implications, and one of the most crucial decisions we face is what we wear. Clothing is not just a means of self-expression; it is also a statement of our values and priorities. Increasingly, consumers are recognizing the importance of considering a brand's sustainability practices and the recyclability of products when purchasing clothing or textiles. The fashion industry is notorious for its significant environmental impact. From the excessive use of water and energy to the pollution generated by the production and disposal of textiles, it is a major contributor to global environmental problems. By choosing brands that prioritize sustainability, consumers can play a vital role in reducing the industry's harmful effects on the environment. Sustainable brands often use eco-friendly materials and responsible manufacturing processes, which not only reduce their carbon footprint but also promote resource conservation. Furthermore, sustainable brands are more likely to adhere to ethical labor practices. By supporting such brands, consumers can advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the overall well-being of workers in the industry. This is not just a matter of social justice; it's a commitment to a more equitable world. Recyclability is another crucial aspect of responsible consumerism. Sustainable clothing often lasts longer and is designed with recyclability or upcycling in mind. This reduces the amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills and supports the development of a circular fashion economy. Recycling textiles helps conserve resources and minimize waste, contributing to a more sustainable future. The power of consumer choice extends beyond individual preferences. It raises awareness and encourages others to make more informed choices, creating a ripple effect in the industry. When consumers demand sustainability, brands respond by innovating and developing more eco-friendly materials and processes. This benefits not only the environment but also the industry itself, paving the way for a more sustainable and responsible fashion sector. Considering a brand's sustainability practices and the recyclability of their products when purchasing clothing or textiles is an essential step towards a more responsible and conscious fashion industry. It empowers consumers to make choices that align with their values, promotes ethical practices, reduces environmental impact, and contributes to a more sustainable and equitable world. Ultimately, it's a commitment to a better future for our planet and the generations to come. #ConsciousConsumerism #BuyBetter #SustainableFashion #GreenFuture #ClimateAction #Unmoda

Delivering unique, eco-friendly garments globally, using recycled materials, and prioritizing ESG management for fashion market trends.
♻ "Greensumer (Green+Consumer)" Strategy for Sustainable Fashion and Business: Embracing Circular Fashion Greensumer, a blend of "green" and "consumer," refers to consumers who prefer eco-friendly or organic products. Recently, there has been a growing number of people, particularly among the younger generation, showing interest in environmental issues and actively practicing sustainability. Greensumers engage in various practices such as purchasing eco-certified products, upcycling, energy conservation, and participating in environmental protection activities. Circular fashion is one of the activities supported by greensumers, where textiles are produced sustainably from fabric production to using sustainable materials, maximizing the lifespan and recyclability of clothing. The practice of circular fashion includes activities such as repair, resale, rental, upcycling, donation, and aims to minimize negative impacts on the environment. In recent years, upcycled products have gained attention, leading to the emergence of brands known for upcycling. Notable examples include Kolon RE;CODE, ULKIN, and globally recognized upcycled bag brand FREITAG. At AM COMPANY, we wholeheartedly support these environmentally friendly circular fashion initiatives and proudly stand at the forefront together. #EcoFriendlyFashion #premierevision #internationaltextilefair #Sustainability #AMCOMPANY #fabricrecycled #EcoFashion
