Recora expands across Western Pennsylvania with JEFFERSON CARDIOLOGY ASSOCIATION. https://lnkd.in/eJGsXWxZ In Pennsylvania, only 5% of eligible patients complete cardiac rehab. Barriers have included rural access and lack of awareness. A virtual cardiac rehab program can make it easier to participate for those who live far from facilities. Dr. Michael Mulock from JCA stated, "Patients with heart disease benefit from continued exercise, education, nutrition, and medication support. With Recora, we will provide these services to patients from the comfort of their own homes." #pittsburghpa #heartdiseaseprevention #hearthealth #ruralhealthcare

Interesting study findings reveal that at-risk patients require coaching and incentives to engage in cardiac rehab and adhere to critical secondary prevention therapies. The traditional episodic, fee-for-service approach to managing cardiovascular patients is falling short in enhancing long-term patient health outcomes. #CardiacRehab #CVCare #HeartCare

Should We Start a Structural Heart Program? With the advent of percutaneous valvular procedures and LAAO procedures, the cardiovascular industry has seen a significant increase in the volume of structural heart procedures to treat complex patients, write Lorraine Buck, MBA, MSN, RN, VP at Corazon, and Carol Wesley, MSN, MHA, RN, VP at Corazon. To accommodate this influx, they say, healthcare organizations should develop their procedural offerings and services into a formalized structural heart program. https://okt.to/EqYSvu #cardiotwitter

Funded by the British Heart Foundation, King's College London, suggest a significant change in treatment for high-risk heart failure patients. The study recommends that implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) be provided immediately to these patients, rather than waiting after stent insertion. A clinical trial involving 700 patients found that stents did not improve heart function, reduce rhythm issues, or lower cardiac events or deaths. This research challenges the current "wait and see" approach and emphasizes the potential life-saving impact of ICDs. Experts highlight the need to act promptly, and staying informed about these findings and discussing them with healthcare providers could help improve heart care for countless individuals. #HeartHealth #Cardiology #MedicalResearch #HealthcareNews

Why Cardiac Rehab Matters: Despite its proven benefits, cardiac rehab remains underutilized. Only 20% to 30% of eligible individuals enroll in programs each year. Let’s change that! Cardiac rehab can prevent second heart attacks and reduce the risk of death over the next one to three years. Join the Movement! If you’ve been through cardiac issues, consider participating in a cardiac rehab program. It’s a step toward a stronger heart and a healthier life! Exciting study in cardiac care! A recent study at Baptist Health Louisville HF Clinic explored the impact of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) on heart failure patients. The implementation of RPM kits led to a remarkable 30-day HF hospitalization rate drop from 10.3% to 0%, with a parallel reduction in 30-day mortality. Overall, the study concluded that there were lower rates of 30 day and 90 day hospitalization with implementation of RPM in patients with acutely decompensaed HF. These findings underscore promising results and the potential of RPM in enhancing patient outcomes and reducing hospitalizations. "A study of Medicare beneficiaries published in 2020 found just 1 in 4 opted to participate in on-site, facility-based cardiac rehabilitation programs. According to the Million Hearts Cardiac Rehabilitation Collaborative, a joint project of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, increasing participation to 70% of cardiac patients following hospitalization could save 25,000 lives and prevent 180,000 additional hospitalizations each year." "The new study is the first to provide evidence that home-based cardiac rehabilitation also could improve survival rates, the authors said." https://lnkd.in/e78eDRKs
