via Social Media: The German Farmers have announced that they will launch a protest “larger than the country has ever seen before” on Monday, January 8. Multiple farmers' associations, the train drivers’ union and the trucking industry have announced they’ll be mobilizing against the federal government's plans to cancel for agricultural diesel, cut vehicle tax exemptions and increase truck tolls and carbon taxes. There are also countless calls on social media for a general strike against the federal German government - demanding they step down. Mark my words: There is no doubt that if all of these sectors hold their ground and do not back down as a result of the establishment’s usual intimidation tactics, that they have the power to completely paralyze the country and finally demand change. Warning! This post is more tongue-in-cheek (probably a bad metaphor for THIS particular post) to make a point. Here we go. In the early 1990's I went to the premier of the movie ALIVE. It was based on the true story of a group of young Catholic male athletes whose plane crashed in the Andes mountains and their struggle to survive. One particular moral and ethical struggle in the film is when the boys are out of food, starving, and must make the difficult decision to eat the bodies of the dead...some of whom were family and/or friends. After it was decided to go ahead, the next dilemma was WHO would they eat first. Decision- The boys decided to eat the pilots first. Because they concluded that the pilots were responsible for their situation in the first place. It is an intensely, thought provoking story. I recommend reading the book, or watching the movie. HOWEVER, after reading this article below, it got me thinking. With a record number of Canadians using the food bank, with the dangerous precipice of threatening our food supply with carbon taxes hurting farmers ability to do what they do best... If our food supply collapsed, who is responsible for putting us in that situation? In other words, if push came to shove... Which party members would you choose to eat first? Liberal, NDP, Conservative, Green (for the vegans), Bloc, or PPC? For myself, I'll try to stick with pasta. https://lnkd.in/gEmgA-5B
