Hey, LinkedIn community! Soo, I want to share with you my 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐣𝐨𝐛 in Recruiting. First of all, I want to point out that I haven't been actively looking for a new job yet. But networking, recommendations from my friends and HR community work pretty good. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐰: - 2 final rounds with CEO's of 2 startups (Crypto and FemTech). Waiting for their feedback🙏 - 1 successfully completed test task (got a positive feedback, so decided to ask your opinion on the necessity of such step during the hiring process). - 5 initial calls with other companies (decided not to continue communication, as our expectations didn't meet). - 1 more initiall call is scheduled for the next week. I wanted to show that the market is alive and anyone who's looking for a new job, will definitely find it. As I continue my search for a start in tech, I can't help but notice the disproportionate number of entry-level positions compared to the abundance of opportunities for intermediate to senior roles. Many companies have numerous vacancies for entire departments that require 2-8+ years of experience. This raises questions about the challenges companies face in attracting and retaining talent. Are they overlooking opportunities to invest in and cultivate new talent? What is causing principal/senior roles to be more likely vacant? Should I be concerned? For those already in the tech field, do you have any advice for those like me who are continuously eager to get a chance?

I believe there is a massive opportunity for people to control their own destiny particularly at this time. If you're a top talent or a Founder/CEO, Let me explain some context, get into the problem and provide a solution 👇 🔎 Context: The Fed keeps printing money out of thin air and macro conditions continue to worsen while inflation remains high. Supposedly there's job growth out there but it doesn't reflect the reality for many in the emerging tech scene. I expect many more layoffs over the coming months. The employees that are left are typically working lean and stressed. Hiring Managers and TA's are overworked and under pressure to find the perfect diamond with directives changing often. 😟 Problem: There is top talent out there in finance, tech, blockchain, sports, web3 and more that have worked with or have connections with some of the biggest brands and investors on earth and yet they are out there competing with hundreds if not thousands of people for their next six figure payday job. That experience has left a lot to be desired for many that I've talked to. Many companies are heading into Q4 looking for anything they can to increase revenue and/or cut costs, often times that means personnel. For many companies this is a game of survival and outlasting the competition. 🤩 Solution: Your network is your net worth and many aren't leveraging it as much as they could be. Often times big players will listen to the advice of an independent third party they’ve built a relationship with anyways. There is big demand right now for the following: -Fractional Business Development Leader -Fractional Head of Growth -Investor Outreach Services 🧐Why it makes sense: Less risk for a company to sign a non-exclusive agreement with someone to see if they can get results with someone to leverage their network to secure vetted introductions, help them sign deals, connect with investors, and grow their business. At the end of the it's all about results plus everyone likes saving time and money working with people that know what they are doing. So am I saying "Stop wasting your time applying for your next dream job?" no, if that's what you really want. What I am saying is that if you have the right network, want to work remotely, why not bet on yourself while you look for that dream job and if it happens for you great but if not at least you are working on something with high potential that you could end up loving. I am on the market, seeking talent acquisition positions at innovative, exciting startups looking to scale their teams. I’ve hired in sales, marketing and technical positions and I cannot wait to keep learning and growing. A huge thank you to everyone at Apiiro, (esp Yael Rosner Niv & Maria Kraskin 👑's) for teaching me so much and making my time with you unforgettable. To be honest, for a minute (or maybe more than a few minutes), I dreaded putting the banner back up on my profile. Beginning the (guaranteed to be frustrating) process of interviewing where so many more experienced and talented recruiters are also in the application queue is a daunting one. Then I remembered what being laid off meant for me last time around - I found my purpose and passion and a career I am so proud to continue. While it will still probably be exhausting and frustrating at times, I hope to bring a sense of curiosity, excitement and openness to broadening my horizons as I examine potential next steps. I’m trying to see this as a time of opportunity instead of misfortune. Who knows where life could take me next? That’s my outlook today anyway - I’m keeping my fingers crossed the positivity will stay with me. For my network, I am grateful for any support, recommendations or introductions. Do you ever feel like the human touch is missing on LinkedIn? According to my experience, only 0.5% of my connections responded back to me after showing interest in available positions. Even if a candidate's profile matches 85% of the job description, recruiters are hesitant to reach out. And when they do, the budget is often too low. It begs the question: what are we trying to portray here? I started my search for a next opportunity. Thought I'd share an update. What's working: 1. Bought an upgraded Mac mini m2. Feels like I have some power back. 2. Bought a 2022 m2 8gb 13" Mac pro. 3. Synced and cloned my dev config and tools across both. 4. Finished a system design and management principles interview course. 5. Reconnected with several old friends/coworkers plus a few building cool startups in need of eng leads (appreciate y'all) 6. Went camping and stared at some trees for a few days. What's not working as well: 1. Applying on LinkedIn directly. Black hole. Roles frequently pulled. Rejection without human outreach is discouraging. 2. External recruiters for experienced engineering IC/management positions. Good networking but not converting as well for me (could be the market also). Hasn't been that long though. 3. Endlessly modifying resume. Anyone else searching out there? P.S. Reach out if you're hiring someone with a background like mine. Am looking for my next role - gotta keep the cat 🐱 fed! In all seriousness - some of you may know that my business partner & I stepped away from full-time roles last year to search for and acquire SMEs. We're still incredibly bullish on this (having learnt a brilliant amount in the journey), but personal runways are draining. I'm looking at you, tripling mortgage rates! We'll continue that journey but in a very different form with a different set of heuristics (happy to jam with you if you're interested in hearing more about that). Meanwhile, I'm looking for a new role - open to both full-time and project-contracts. I enjoy and am good at solving complex messy problems across multiple functions, and have a couple of areas that I'm interested in exploring now: - Business transformation / innovation roles in non-tech companies - Corporate Venture Capital / Venture Builders If you know of any exciting opportunities in these areas, I'd greatly appreciate referrals or introductions. And also, what areas or types of roles you think I should consider! Most of the employees know very well that jobs are not secure in future. Ai technology also impacted so many jobs. But educated people still prefer jobs instead of business. Business required investment which most of people are not ready to pay. But most of the people want to have their own business. Digital business is affordable for almost everyone it costs below 50k. But people have job mindset to make fix amount of salary at insecure job. People are ready to invest on liabilities like I-Phone but not ready to start digital business which can help them to buy multiple i-phones.
