 I keep reading that we could be heading for WW3 and yet there are no winners just losers in war. Wars are due to individual leaders who cause wars but are not the ones who fight or lose loved ones. Surely it is better to depose these war-mongering leaders and settle for peace? A power-hungry leader subjecting their country to loss, hardship and destruction cannot be a good thing. Negotiating peace has to come eventually so why not do that upfront and avoid a war that no one ever wants? The people who are losers in the war and never the people that wanted or instigated it but they are the ones who die or lose family and what have worked for all their lives. War should not be necessary in a civilised society.

Who is winning in the Black Sea? Chatham House 5 Mar 2024 The Kremlin’s strategic goal to control Ukrainian coastline has brought renewed interest to the Black Sea region. While Ukraine has had considerable success in this area, it remains fiercely contested, with disruptions such as floating naval mines affecting the global shipping and trade routes. This event examines how the Russian invasion of Ukraine has redefined the security landscape of the Black Sea region. It discusses the impact of the war on main stakeholders in the region and address the following questions: How has the Russo-Ukrainian war changed regional security dynamics in the Black Sea? How important is the Black Sea to the overall course of the war? What are security and geopolitical impacts of this war in the Black Sea beyond Russia and Ukraine? How are major regional powers repositioning themselves in the new regional setting? What should a winning EU and NATO strategy for the Black Sea look like? Will the Black Sea decline in importance, the longer the war continues? The event is being held together with Chatham House’s Turkey Initiative, Russia and Eurasia Programme, and The German Marshall Fund of the United States.

## The Bravery That Comes From Humility: A Reflection on the Tuskegee Airmen **In a world that too often confuses bluster with bravery,** the story of the Tuskegee Airmen stands as a testament to a different kind of heroism. These extraordinary men, forced to endure a despicable "experiment" even as they served their nation with honor, teach us a profound lesson about true leadership and the quiet strength that comes from humility. **C.S. Lewis, a keen observer of human nature, once wrote, "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less." ( paraphrased)** The Tuskegee Airmen, denied the basic respect they deserved, channeled their frustration not into self-pity or anger, but into an unwavering focus on their mission. **Micah 6:8** instructs us to "do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." The Airmen embodied this perfectly. They did what was right by defending their country, showed mercy by rising above prejudice, and walked humbly by prioritizing their duty over their egos. **Their focus wasn't on themselves or the injustices they faced, but on the men they flew with and the mission they were entrusted with.** In their quiet dignity and unwavering dedication, they redefined what it means to serve. **Leadership is not about rank or title,** it's about inspiring others to rise above and fulfill a greater purpose. The Tuskegee Airmen, through their courage and humility, demonstrated the very essence of leadership.
