Knowing where to use a probabilistic model vs a deterministic model is an art in itself.

Any generated data has an inherent problem of it being probabilistic instead of deterministic.
In case of building models for healthcare this proves to be essential since the method you choose will really impact trustworthiness of the model outcome

"The AI tools promise to save time and angst for clinicians, but they also introduce mistakes, miss medically-important distinctions, and sometimes they make things up. Even as hospitals race to adopt them — at least a dozen are piloting Epic’s built-in tool to summarize patient charts — they remain uncertain how to test their performance, insert safety checks, and clear them for use in live medical settings.
Despite the capabilities of models like OpenAI’s GPT-4, it’s so far unclear whether they’re ready for the high stakes of clinical summarization, when a single missing word could mean the difference in a diagnosis.
The chaos results from the ever expanding array of experimental uses, and the new questions they pose. Hospitals aren’t just using LLMs to automate tasks now carried out by humans. They are also asking them to do things humans have never done, such as translating dense medical documents normally read only by doctors into plain language versions that can be understood by patients. "

Imagine a voice-based assistant that transcribes realtime doctor - patient conversation, identifies the relevant data & clears out the noise, to finally compile comprehensible notes, clearly highlighting the symptoms, diagnoses and next steps. Eventually, these notes are combined with the patient’s historical data to identify the relevant treatment options.
