Last month, we had the wonderful opportunity to attend Volunteers of America’s Reno Works Graduation Ceremony to honor and celebrate the hard work, dedication and success of its graduates. Reno Works is a 12-week workforce development partnership program between Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada, and the City of Reno. The program was created in 2015 to offer homeless individuals a way to recover by addressing employment, social and emotional issues. Reno Works provides employment counseling, referrals, on-the-job training, financial literacy classes and a “Getting Ahead” workshop. The intensive life skills classes give the participants the tools necessary to gain sustained employment and self-sufficiency. Upon graduation, participants receive wrap-around services, including case management. We’re so proud to support VOA and their life-changing work.
