A crucial component of the #SUNCASA project is to ensure #women, girls, and other underrepresented communities effectively participate in #ClimateChange #adaptation and #NbS policy-making processes. In order to achieve this, we’ll bring together men, sons, fathers, and decision-makers to discuss and better understand structural and cultural gender barriers. #ChallengingNorms #CreatingOpportunities #BuildingBridges
Women are disproportionately affected by #ClimateChange, as they are responsible for securing food and water due to traditional #gender roles, which invariably results in a greater dependency on natural resources. #SUNCASA recognizes such differences; that's why our goal is that at least 50% of our beneficiaries are women. We also aim to increase men's and decision-makers’ understanding of the need for gender-responsive approaches to #NatureBasedSolutions, reducing barriers and norms that prevent women's meaningful participation in the climate policy-making process. How do we integrate the local and regional contexts into the broader processes and practices that drive food systems transformation with a systemic approach? While many agricultural challenges are shared globally, when it comes to exchanging lessons learned and solutions, the valuable perspectives from farmers, producers, governments, local scientists, development practitioners, and regional communities are often missing. That's why the Food & Agricultural Commodity Systems Community gathers more than 500 members from 34 producing countries working on 12 agricultural commodities in a space to share, shape and learn the progressive practices and innovative solutions that will transform food and agricultural commodity systems. These practices include: 🔹 Effective Communications 🔹 Systems Leadership 🔹 Working with Power 🔹 Inclusion, Empowerment and Gender Equality Learn more and join the community to be part of the change: https://lnkd.in/ecKVvNBw #FoodSystemsTransformation

Gender inequality in agriculture remains a significant challenge, with women often facing limited access to resources, land ownership, and opportunities for education and training. By closing the gender gap and promoting gender-inclusive policies and initiatives, we can unlock the full potential of women as key contributors to agricultural productivity, resilience, and innovation. As leaders and advocates, let's champion gender equality in agriculture and support initiatives that empower women farmers and rural entrepreneurs. Together, we can create more equitable and sustainable food systems for future generations. #Agriculture #FoodSecurity #GenderEquality #WomenInAgriculture
