As the slide below illustrates, we are now at a point where numerous advanced construction equipment and robotics solutions are truly beginning to be commercially viable, making it more practical for a greater number of construction companies to get involved in supporting this trend. In my opinion, we will not truly reform the industry without a revolution in construction equipment. With that, particularly if you are a friend with a self-perform contracting business, I hope you will join BuiltWorlds Tool/Equipment/Robotics Analyst, Audrey Lynch, more than two dozen construction companies(so far), and me in the kick-off of our BuiltWorlds Tools/Equipment/Robotics Research Track, an unprecedented, global push to promote digital transformation in the world of construction tools, equipment, and robotics. Better software, alone, won't get us where we want to be. We need better hardware, too. Click here for more: https://lnkd.in/gwHJsYH7 The official Research Track kick-off will be at Our Construction Tech Conference in Chicago, July 24th and 25th at the Willis Tower. Hope You'll Join Us! You will not want to miss out on this effort. Companies participating so far include: AL JABER L E G T ENGINEERING & CONTRACTING (ALEC) L L C, Impetus Construction Group , Kajima, VINCI, EllisDon, Pomerleau, Ferrovial Construction, STO Building Group, ARCO/Murray, Thornton Tomasetti, Burns & McDonnell, Terracon,DPR Construction, Clayco, Benchmark Construction Company, Swinerton, Mortenson, Skanska, Barton Malow, Graycor, SpawGlass, ACCIONA, Garney Construction, Sundt Construction, XL Construction, Consigli Construction Co., Inc.

Matt D. The graph was lifted from one of a series of in depth research reports the team produced examining different areas of adoption within the field of tools, equipment, and robotics . So, kind of tough to dive into all the specifics in a reply to a lnked in post. However, I am confident in the team’s arching finding which is a trend toward increased adoption of specifically robotics solutions at a higher rate than has previously been seen in our research which thus creates a context for both solution providers in robotics and adopters to do more applied work in the sub sector. Does that clear things up? If not, feel free to reach out offline. https://builtworlds.com/tools-equipment-robotics/

Introducing smart construction equipment presents a transformative opportunity to bridge the gap in skilled trade recruitment within the construction industry. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, such as automation, sensors, and data analytics, these advanced machines streamline tasks, making them more accessible to a wider pool of workers. This accessibility reduces the barrier to entry for skilled trades, attracting individuals who may have been deterred by the perceived complexity or physical demands of traditional construction roles. Additionally, the upskilling required to operate smart equipment fosters a culture of continuous learning, enticing prospective recruits with opportunities for career growth and development within the industry. As a result, the integration of smart construction equipment not only addresses the shortage of skilled labor but also revitalizes the construction workforce for a more sustainable future.

Love the topic! And absolutely agree. But I struggle to understand what the horizontal axis tells us exactly. Please help me 😄 What does the implementation rate represent, Audrey Lynch?

Very informative post! We're looking forward to participating in the Research Track kick-off at the Construction Tech Conference in July.

Matthew Gray is this saying that robotic total stations (as a category) are being adopted at a rate of 2.4%? So these results indicate only 1 in 40 contractors are using those?
