Confined space inspection with Drone for confidential client. Utilized Flyability’s Elios 3 with LiDAR for structural condition assessment of two (2) concrete covered tanks. Utilizing a drone is a great alternative to having staff enter confined spaces to perform condition assessment inspections.

I see a lot of posts on LinkedIn about LiDAR, mostly from drone service providers. I have been using LiDAR for many years for planning seismic source and receiver offset locations, mostly working around challenging terrain. LiDAR has been an invaluable resource for this process, particularly using extracted slope maps and bare earth models as displayed below. Another benefit of the bare earth model is generation of highly accurate DTM’s, which can be paired with GPS survey XY’s, for exporting more accurate DTM elevations for locations surveyed under canopy. GPS elevation spikes are also red flags for potentially poor GPS observations. See the following example, which compares elevations from a recent DTM to OPUS control points. Control Point Opus Elev DTM Elev Diff Elev CP1 653.86 653.81 0.045 CP2 1318.16 1318.42 -0.259

For the data junkies: we put some serious effort into today's blog post where we compare quality statistics from a couple of survey-grade datasets captured by DJI enterprise sensors and processing in DJI Terra. And we showcase how our TopoVision processing quality stacks up!
How do you measure drone mapping quality? This one gets technical as we expose our internal photogrammetry and LiDAR quality testing. Explore geospatial accuracy with ASPRS Edition 2 Positional Accuracy Standards using DJI P1 and L2 datasets. Calling all surveyors, this one's tailored for you! Let us know your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/gG5heY8E #PrecisionMapping #ASPRSStandards #SurveyingExcellence #TopoMatters

Ground Control Points (GCPs) are a fundamental building block of any drone surveying job, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the resulting maps. GCPs provide a frame of reference that increases the accuracy of the survey, help define the boundaries of your site and properly scale everything in between, and deliver as accurate an aerial map as possible. When it comes to material and placement, GCPs should be made with high contrast colors that stand out from the surrounding terrain and have a clearly defined center that aligns with the known coordinate. The placement of GCPs is also crucial, as too few can lead to inaccurate measurements, while too many in close proximity can corrupt the overall aerial imagery. So, whether you need a photogrammetry or LiDAR map, GCPs are crucial in drone surveying for several reasons, including accuracy, scaling and boundary definition, image stitching, and enhanced mapping. #drone #accuracy #rightfirsttime #groundcontrol #surveydata

Sometimes the crime scene is in an usual location. Our technicians were asked to diagram the falls at this location. How do you accomplish it? Photos, laser measure, lidar scan, drone mapping? What if the request is to obtain the contour of the falls? #csi #crimescene #scenediagram #mapping #theplaceswego

What's the thrill of flying drones for me? It's not just about capturing airborne photos; it's about transforming them into something extraordinary - photogrammetry! With this technique, I turn drone snapshots into 3D wonders by seamlessly blending overlapping images. These models provide valuable information like aerial maps, slope analysis, asset inspections, and cut-fill measurements, saving time and money while improving safety for construction managers, engineers, and others. Therefore maintaining our assets in construction sites are important especially during construction. #photogrammetry #3dmodelling #droneinspection #dronephotogrammetry

BRINC Lemur 2 The most advanced indoor tactical drone available. Why? Drone pilots want to fly and assist SWAT. SWAT operators want to clear slow & methodically. Crisis Negotiators want to establish & maintain communications to de-escalate and achieve voluntary surrenders. SWAT wants a reliable floor plan on a location they have not run on before. L2 has an realtime LiDAR Mapper feature in 2D/3D to assist with this before planned entry. IP MESH to operate deeper into structures with other L2's. Glass breaker as needed to breach car/residential windows for entry. And we don't rely on GPS which eventually fails after encountering one too many walls after entry. Adjustable lights and strobe function. It flies low, very low and doesn't land on you. Loud hail with the props running. and much more capabilities available on our web based LiveOps for CoC and inner perimeter to have situational awareness.

Orthophotos are highly accurate geospatial images that have been meticulously corrected for distortions caused by terrain relief and sensor geometry, providing a true-to-scale representation of the Earth's surface, commonly used for precise mapping and measurement purposes. In contrast, aerial imagery encompasses a broader category of images captured from aircraft or drones, which may or may not undergo such geometric corrections, and is employed across various applications, offering a more comprehensive range of visual and spectral information but with potentially lower geometric accuracy compared to orthophotos.
