During this #HSAwarenessWeek, I renew my commitment to raising awareness and educating about #HidradenitisSuppurativa (#HS) each and every day of the year, alongside other immunological conditions that are often overlooked or downplayed as "not serious". We need to speak up about the enormous toll of these diseases on physical and emotional wellbeing. I invite you to watch “The Beacons: Illuminating HS Stories”, which debuted at the Tribeca Festival last year. Feeling energized coming out of yesterday's STAT Breakthrough East Summit. Important discussions getting to the heart of how pharma, biotech, regulatory authorities, and research organizations can truly put patients at the center of our work. I'm grateful for the opportunity to hear diverse opinions from patient leaders, industry, researchers, and investors. All have a role to play, as we collectively strive to drive innovation and solve for barriers to care in our complex healthcare ecosystem. Proud of our Novartis speakers, Tina Deignan and Reshema Kemps-Polanco, who provided inspiration through their personal and professional commitment to bringing the patient voice forward. Chances are, you know someone who is living with an #autoimmunedisease. This isn't a saying, it's a fact. Both of my parents and several other relatives, friends and co-workers are living each day with the limitations of autoimmune diseases - and more often than not, more than one. These are often sneaky conditions that flare without warning, interfering with plans and taking an unseen toll on both the body and spirit. Autoimmune disorders don't often get the attention of other conditions like cancer or heart disease, but they are no less nefarious or burdensome and have significant negative health impact. This #AutoimmuneAwarenessMonth, let's work together to tackle these challenging diseases head on.

On International Women’s Day, I’m inspired by role models like Anastacia, who demonstrate the power of inclusion in helping us address inequalities in healthcare and drive positive change.   But there is still a need to invite more women to the conversation.
