Senior sustainability editor, Vogue Business. Science journalist.

One of my favorite parts of my job is knowing that sometimes, people I respect enormously, people who are doing really important and admirable work, put their trust in me to tell a story about that work. This was one of those moments. I'm so thrilled for Ngozi Okaro Custom Collaborative — and also for the City of New York, which will be so much richer with Custom Collaborative's expanded presence. Congratulations!

I am so glad to hear about this project, this means there are other people thinking in the same wavelength… seeing circular economy as a posibilty for under privileged and migrants to find the skill to generate income through transformation of clothes and textiles that are no longer in use. I have been working in a similar proyect in Colombia for the last 4 years. We connect institutions and companies with small family owned businesses and or less privileged women that can provide for their families by learning these transformational skills and accompanying them to set a small sustainable business. As well as with the company in designing products, that they normally acquire for their workers, that will be made out of their uniforms. Congratulations Ngozi Okaro, for your award☀️🙏🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
