Integrating sustainable practices into your marketing strategy can differentiate your brand and build trust. A joint study by McKinsey & Company and NielsenIQ revealed consumers are spending more on products with ESG claims. Their analysis of 5 years of sales data shows products marketed with sustainability claims saw higher sales growth compared to those without such claims. This trend is observed across multiple demographics, with Gen Z showing a slightly higher inclination towards sustainable purchases, however, it’s not limited to any single age group. When marketing budgets are tight, what can you do? As Richard Conway pointed out in his latest article for NZBusiness (linked below), Content Marketing is a cost-effective marketing tactic when you have a limited budget. Content marketing allows you to continue to build your brand all the while improving SEO. Richard gives some great tips on effectively using AI for content generation. His article got me thinking about content and marketing budgets, so here are some tips💫: ⚡Invest in creating valuable and relevant content that educates, entertains, or solves problems for your customers (use your knowledge with a dash of AI). ⚡Whether it's blog posts, videos, or infographics, compelling content can attract and retain customers at a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. ⚡Content can be repurposed on various channels or used yearly in seasonal businesses. 📣Although it's tempting to cut marketing budgets when business or times get tough, this is actually the opposite of what you should do. Brands that invest in marketing during tough times are the ones that come out on top at the other end. Even if you don’t agree about ‘investing’ in marketing during tough times, marketing budgets must, at the very least, remain in proportion to projected revenue - remembering that marketing fuels sales.
