The importance of maternal and child health cannot be overemphasized...
✨World Breastfeeding Week has been observed globally over the past week. Appreciating breastfeeding mothers, and recognizing the effort of working parents who often experience difficulties in breastfeeding. Freetribe recognizes this essential aspect of motherhood and reproductive health as very important, and will be sharing some importants facts and benefits of breastfeeding. 📌 Breast milk is a dynamic fluid that adapts to the changing needs of the growing baby. Its composition varies based on factors like the baby's age, the time of day, and the mother's diet. 📌 The skin-to-skin contact and the release of oxytocin during breastfeeding can promote feelings of love, trust, and connection, benefiting both the mother's and baby's emotional well-being. 📌Breastfeeding offers long-term health benefits for both mothers and children. 📌 Breastfeeding is a personal choice, however it is encouraged for all. It can bring numerous benefits to the family's well-being and contribute to reproductive health and wellness. Making the decision to breastfeed has countless benefits for both mom and baby, although sometimes the process can be tricky for new mothers to navigate. Here are 4 tips to help you prepare for a successful breastfeeding experience: Skin-to-skin. Research has shown that holding your baby skin-to-skin increases your levels of the milk-making hormone oxytocin. Consider different positions. Experiment with a variety of options to find what is most comfortable for you and your baby. Follow your baby’s lead and let them tell you when and how much feeding they need. Seek classes and help if you need it! Educating yourself on breastfeeding can set you up for success and help you understand what a proper latch should feel like. Hoag offers a variety of breastfeeding resources to help support women through their post-pregnancy journey. Our team of experts are here to guide you, whether you want 1:1 in-person breastfeeding consults at our Hoag locations, in-home health care support, or an on-the-go app that provides concierge-level support. #EmpoweredbyHoag #BreastfeedingAwarenessMonth

On August 6th, 2011, the United States Breastfeeding Committee declared August as National Breastfeeding Month. Their goal is for U.S. families to have the chance to breastfeed through collaboration, leadership, and advocacy. As we conclude the month of August, I wanted to shed some light on part of my breastfeeding journey, while pregnant. I want to emphasize that breastfeeding isn't the right choice for everyone. The method you select to nourish your baby is deeply personal, and everyone deserves to be heard and supported with their choice. 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 "When I discovered my pregnancy, my eldest was just a year old. We had hoped to grow our family, but I hadn't fully grasped how this might impact breastfeeding. Before the pregnancy revelation, I felt some pain during breastfeeding. I initially attributed this to my eldest teething or the occasional nip. But after the pregnancy confirmation, everything fell into place. Fortunately, the discomfort wasn’t disruptive and it faded within a few weeks. Yet, it sparked a cascade of questions, the most pressing of which was: would I have to stop breastfeeding?" ➡️ If you'd like to read more, check out my blog post: https://lnkd.in/eZs8kZvH #head2toepediatrics #housecallpediatrician #drlastra

🤱🎗️ Breastfeeding Awareness Week 🎗️🤱 As we celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Week, I wanted to share this throwback video from my residency days. In this video, we discussed the importance of breastfeeding for newborns and mothers, highlighting its numerous benefits. 🍼💕 Breastfeeding is a beautiful and natural way to provide the best nutrition for infants. It offers essential nutrients and antibodies that boost their immune systems, promoting healthy growth and development. Moreover, it creates a unique bond between mother and child, fostering emotional well-being for both. Mothers also experience significant benefits from breastfeeding. It reduces the risk of postpartum depression and certain health conditions. Additionally, it aids in postpartum weight loss, contributing to overall maternal well-being. It's crucial to raise awareness about breastfeeding and break any stigmas or myths surrounding it. By sharing our experiences and knowledge, we can create a breastfeeding-friendly society that supports and empowers all mothers. #BreastfeedingAwareness #BreastfeedingWeek #MaternalHealth #NewbornCare #HealthyStarts #ThrowbackThursday #healthymom #healthybaby #breastfeeding https://lnkd.in/gEjR-QC2

As all mothers know, birth - while magical - is incredibly demanding. Here’s how you can support your pregnant clients to prepare for birth with NaturoBest. It’s important that expecting mothers take a prenatal supplement that supports mum and bub in the lead up to birth, like our Prenatal Trimester 2 & 3 Plus Breastfeeding. From week 34, we recommend taking our Birth Prep & Recovery to help prepare her body for baby’s arrival. Once her little one has arrived, we recommend your clients continue taking Birth Prep and Recovery for 6 weeks postpartum, and continue taking Prenatal Trimester 2 & 3 Plus Breastfeeding as well as our Lactation Support if needed for the entire breastfeeding journey. https://lnkd.in/gHuj5p6M #thirdtrimester #fourthtrimester #motherhood #doula

With 5,000,000 pregnancies each year in Europe alone, there is a pressing need to fill the knowledge gap in medicine safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding. ConcePTION has spent 5 years working to set up an ecosystem for pharmacovigilance in pregnancy and breastfeeding. The LifeSaver Project (Living Impact on Fetal Evolution) is just getting started on the journey towards advancing risk assessment for drugs and chemicals in pregnancy. Together, we work to fill the knowledge gaps. On 14 May 2024, we shared what we do and how we complement each other in a joint webinar. Read all about it by following the link below. https://lnkd.in/g-yvdFYk Innovative Health Initiative (IHI)

August is National Breastfeeding Month and this week in particular, We recognize Black Breast Feeding Week! This week was created to bring awareness of the racial disparities in breastfeeding rates. Breastfeeding rates for Black women are significantly lower compared to any other race. This can be traced back to slavery. This lead to negative views about breastfeeding among the Black community which have been passed down through generations along with lack of support and resources. Black women are 3-4x more likely to die from pregnancy & childbirth compared to white women. Black babies are dying 2x the rate compared to white babies. According to the CDC, increased breastfeeding among Black women could decrease infant mortality rates by as much as 50%. This week as we shine a light on: *high Black infant mortality rate *high rates of chronic disease in the Black community *the lack of diversity in the lactation field *unique cultural barriers among Black women *the desert-like food conditions in Black communities, Let's continue to raise awareness, spread knowledge, and stand by every mother's side on this beautiful journey.
