I'm part of a committee organising the British Polling Council's first ever young researchers conference. As part of the conference, we're looking for early careers researchers in the worlds of political and social research to deliver some talks. Please see our call for papers below, and share widely! ############################### The British Polling Council is set to hold its first early careers event, for young researchers in the fields of polling and social research in the UK on the 20th or 22nd of November 2023 in London. As part of the event, the organising committee are seeking submissions from early-careers researchers (having worked in the industry for four years or less) to deliver a 15-minute presentation on a topic of their choice to attendees. The organising committee are particularly interested in submissions that fit into one of the following categories, but do not discourage submissions on other topics. Note also that this will be a hybrid event, so submissions from those across the UK are welcome. Themes of particular interest: The future of political polling: new methods and approaches to polling The next general election: what polling tells us about key voter shifts in the run up to the next general election If you are interested in presenting, please complete this form by 12 October, providing a description of no more than 250 words on what you wish to present on. This does not need to be especially polished, and we are keen to hear from as many people as possible. Applications from female speakers, or those from otherwise under-represented backgrounds within the industry are especially encouraged. Should you have any questions about the submission process, or more generally about the event, please contact beth.mann@yougov.com or fintan.smith@yougov.com . https://lnkd.in/eVRHpW6Q

Peer review can be an on-ramp to opportunity: find out more at this #PeerReviewWeek webinar!
Join Drs. Christina Cuomo, Colin Parrish, and Diana Proctor on September 26th at 11 a.m. EDT for an exploration into the topic of peer review! Taking place during #PeerReviewWeek 2023, ASM’s Peering into Peer Review webinar will unravel the peer review process and spotlight opportunities for aspiring peer reviewers, in particular, Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows. While peer review stands as the bedrock of scientific integrity and precision, its finer points often elude emerging scientists. This 30-minute panel-style event aims to unravel the complexities of peer review, while also spotlighting opportunities within ASM for aspiring peer reviewers. This is a free event, but registration is required. More information can be found at https://lnkd.in/eycM6iSN
