Authentic allyship: Supporting the LGBTQ+ community beyond Pride Month "It's important for businesses to clearly articulate how they contribute to the LGBTQIA+ community, not just during Pride Month but throughout the year. Profiting from LGBTQIA+ visibility during Pride Month without substantive support for community causes is not only performative and ethically questionable but also transparent to consumers, potentially damaging trust and credibility." What is “Rainbow Washing?” Rainbow washing, defined as using rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality without meaningful advocacy, is a sneaky marketing tactic. Companies often splash rainbows and LGBTQ imagery in June but forget about it later. This practice, termed "optical allyship," is wrong and unethical, especially when companies harm the LGBTQ community. How to Avoid Rainbow Washing Your Brand: 1. Stay consistent in advocacy. 2. Elevate LGBTQ+ voices. 3. Embrace workplace diversity. 4. Donate to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. 5. Speak out against injustice. Move forward by being a genuine ally year-round, not just during Pride month. Let's strive for authentic support and allyship beyond the rainbow-colored marketing gimmicks. #HappyPride!

🌈 It's International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Let's stand together and continue to educate ourselves on how we can best support the LGBTQ+ community, and work towards a world free from discrimination and prejudice. As part of our commitment, we asked university students, "How can brands better support the LGBTQ+ community". These insights underscore the significant role brands play in advocating for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Let’s take these insights to heart and continue to strive for inclusivity and equality in all that we do. 🧡 #IDAHOBIT2024

Older adults and people with disabilities face extra challenges being part of the LGBTQ+ population in the way of finding connections. Across all subsegments of the LGBTQ+ community, people report being more isolated, less financially secure, and often without the same level of familial support as others who are not part of the queer community may have. When you add aging or disability, when you need those extra supports, it can be extra challenging. But while challenging just talking about the issues presents an opportunity to consider what more we can do to ensure our programs and services are truly equitable and inclusive—and recommit to taking action. #pride #pride2024

This month, we stand proud and united to commemorate Pride Month, a celebration of love, diversity, acceptance, and self-expression. This is not just a time to acknowledge the struggles and victories of the LGBTQ+ community but also to reflect on the importance of creating a more inclusive and empathetic society. As we celebrate Pride, let us also remember the importance of allyship. Being an ally means supporting and standing up for the rights of those who identify as LGBTQ+. It means creating safe spaces at work and in our communities where everyone can be their authentic selves. It requires constant learning, understanding, and committing to equality and justice. This Pride month—and all year round—let's strive to spread love, promote inclusivity, and uplift each other. Because when one of us succeeds, we all do. How are you celebrating Pride month and promoting inclusivity in your community? #PrideMonth #Inclusivity #Allyship
