Couldn't agree more with the huge opportunity for brands to take a different approach from traditional sponsorship or client entertainment and leverage creating and owning an event, experience or property itself to drive awareness, engagement and long-term value. Strategically this gives brands far more control, reduces reputational risk with aligning to someone else's event and allows freedom of scalability where and when best fits business objectives. A brand can also use the platform it creates to communicate its values and purpose in a far more powerful, meaningful and memorable way. There has been other greatly successful examples of this like, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and their J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge that has been running for over 40-years, engaging and deepening relationships with tens of thousands of their clients and employees around the world each year. Why don't we see more brands own/create sports events/teams? 🍺 Damm has been involved in Padel since 2014, acquiring the remainder of the World Padel Tour holding company in 2022. A year on it has sold the business for a figure rumoured to be in the items of millions of dollars that brings the two largest tours together. ⚽ In recent months it has been announced that a number of Saudi brands (e.g. aramco) have bought football teams in the Saudi Pro League (SPL). Owning a sports entity has three main benefits: 📺 1. It is a marketing platform for your brand. 👩💻 2. It is a great tool to aid staff recruitment, engagement, and to deliver a CSR programme. 💰 3.
