My solo expedition to Shinkula Pass, standing at an impressive 5,090 meters (16,580 feet) in the Himalayas, amidst -30-degree temperatures last December, has left me with invaluable insights to share – knowledge that could benefit all future adventurers. At such high altitudes, breathing became a conscious effort due to the thin air, underscoring the importance of acclimatization. A surprising revelation was the behavior of vehicles – diesel cars struggled to start if the engine was left idle for over 30 minutes, making petrol cars the preferred choice for navigating the icy Himalayan terrains during winters. Driving through these conditions demanded not only good driving skills but also mental fortitude. The presence of black ice on the roads made cautious maneuvering crucial. Proper clothing, layered to endure the extreme cold, was imperative to fend off frostbite. And while -30 degrees was an immense challenge, it was conquerable with preparation and a resolute mindset. Perhaps the most vital lesson was the significance of hydration. Despite the cold, staying hydrated was paramount to counter the effects of the dry air and physical exertion. This journey taught me to embrace challenges without fear, equipped with knowledge, courage, and ample water – a recipe for a successful expedition in the breathtaking yet formidable Himalayan landscape. #shinkulapass #solotravel #mountains #experience

There was a time when to divide the new land, people would just ride horses and mark the perimeter. In today's world, encroachments aren't unheard of (even of public roads). Parking in someone else's driveway isn't unheard of either. Tussle with your apartment neighbor to place that shoerack in the hall area, is a real thing. The jostling and competition of acquiring large swathes of land on Antarctica, all in the name of research, is well known. Considering all these things, what India has achieved holds a lot more value. The Near the South Pole landing spot, is a great place to setup an observatory. Knowing India, we can guarantee one thing is that we take the world along with us (doesn't matter whether we are in a perfect position to do so or not). So....
