See Gerry Purcell’s Keynote Address from the 10th Annual Anniversary ETF conference. Get some action-oriented insights on Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and other transformative strategies. AI has the potential to impact processes and stakeholders throughout the capital markets from investors to businesses, professionals, intermediaries, and marketplaces. It is more than just automated algorithms. It's about harnessing the immense potential of data. AI systems can analyze massive datasets in real-time, identify market trends, assess risk factors, and tailor investment strategies to unique financial goals and risk tolerance. But what will be its impact? Should we embrace this new technology? What needs to be true to ensure AI is a competitive advantage? In this session, Gerry talks about what AI is (and is not), how it is being used today (and some potential use cases for the future), and how AI can ensure business advantage. https://lnkd.in/dvy5hafa

Had very interesting perspectives on the AI investment craze at the Bloomberg Wealth conference in Hong Kong. Investment is split into 4 buckets: 💽Data 🏭Infrastructure (chips and data centers) 🧮Algorithm 🔁Application The application layer is (justifiably) considered the most risky one due to the lack of defensibility. Infra is the big area of focus, mostly dominated by NVDA (95% market share of AI chips). However the consensus is that the infra layer is prone to significant disruption, and not the kind you would think of. Though it is very likely that NVDA will keep growing revenue, the demand will grow bigger and we’ll see the emergence of disrupters capturing some market share. We already see interesting players such as Groq with their inference specialized chip. Inference is likely the niche which will see the highest demand with the “edgification” of AI into everyday devices. #ai #artificialintelligence #genai #futureofwealth

Corporate Control and Centralization of Power - We live in a world where AI is rapidly advancing, and with that comes the danger of power concentrating in the hands of a few elite corporations. This isn’t just theoretical; it’s happening right now. The monopolization of AI technology threatens to stifle innovation, reduce diversity of thought, and place immense power into a centralized system.

How prepared are countries for the AI revolution? Will AI be accessible worldwide, and what impact will it have on various aspects of our lives, such as the social web, economic stability, career growth, and overall quality of life? What factors and sectors will be most affected by the AI revolution? How expensive is the training of large models, such as LLMs and others? Will the cost of training these models decrease over time, or will we continue to rely on larger corporations using their models? #LLM #Worldwideforum #AIfuture

Countries are advancing AI through focused investments in infrastructure and policy development. North America leads with robust investments and regulatory frameworks, while Europe prioritizes ethical guidelines, data privacy, and protective laws. Asia, especially China, rapidly scales AI with significant state investment. These regions face unique challenges and opportunities, balancing innovation with ethical use, data security, and privacy concerns. Future impacts of AI on policies include the need for adaptable legal frameworks addressing bias, fairness, and equitable access. International collaborations and global standards also play crucial roles in shaping AI governance and mitigating social disruptions.Vitali A. Kaush

Gen AI: too much spend, too little benefit? Published on27 JUN 2024 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE The promise of generative AI technology to transform companies, industries, and societies is leading tech giants and beyond to spend an estimated ~$1tn on capex in coming years, including significant investments in data centers, chips, other AI infrastructure, and the power grid. But this spending has little to show for it so far. Whether this large spend will ever pay off in terms of AI benefits and returns, and the implications for economies, companies, and markets if it does—or if it doesn’t—is Top of Mind. https://lnkd.in/gAHhJYBy
