The number of people who died from opioid overdoses nationwide increased by a staggering 2,108 % between 1999 and 2021. Over the past three years, PSC has worked with public health organizations and other program partners to build and grow the Michigan Overdose Prevention Coalition. As Andre Perry said in this session, “…as far as [bettering the] conditions for Black-owned small businesses go, it creates better conditions for overall quality of life for the entire community … we need to break this mindset that investing in one group is to the detriment of someone else.” Making racial equity a priority is critical as the state moves to implement the recommendations from the Growing Michigan Together Council and is vital to raising up all people and making our communities more vibrant. #MPC24 #sustainabledevelopment #racialequity
