STOP EXCLUDING BLACK CHILDREN BECAUSE OF THEIR HAIR STYLES This is ridiculous and it must stop! The Equalities Commission litigated years ago on behalf of a Black boy wearing Rastafarian locks. The headteacher excluded him for wearing his locks. A judge ruled against the headteacher and in favour of the boy. That's precedent and the law of the land. ALL SCHOOLS ARE UNDER A LEGAL DUTY TO OBEY THE LAW. Headteachers and schools are NOT LAW MAKERS. That's the role of Parliament. Education is a legal contract between a school and a parent on behalf of their child. In addition, ALL children have a LEGAL RIGHT to be EDUCATED under Human Rights law. A democratic society is based and functions on just laws; justly enforced by reasonable people; especially; head teachers and senior staff in schools. Headteachers and schools are behaving unreasonably, unlawfully and autocratically. The Education Secretary and civil servants must tell head teachers and schools not to deny Black children their right to be educated because of their haircut, hairstyles and other physical characteristics. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH STOP DISCRIMINATING AGAINST BLACK CHILDREN! by Professor Delsol

Women's history should be embedded in our culture, yet it is not. Men have been stealing women's history for generations. We have Women's History Month (NOT Women's Month) to celebrate that which is ignored, unknown, or forgotten. This article gives just a hint of the invaluable contributions by women - contributions attributed to men. Read their history, say their names, do better: Marie Curie, née Maria Skłodowska Lise Meitner Rosalind Franklin Margaret Angel Knight Ada Lovelace Lizzie Magie Mileva Einstein Marić Susie Wolff #womenshistorymonth #womenshistorymatters

Thanks to #NewZealand, the Chair, and others for encouraging public access to working papers from the #GGE on #PAROS. These 26!!!!!! papers demonstrate fantastic engagement with the means and methods of legal approaches to maintaining peace in outer space, and help to make the discussion more open and accessible. Special shoutout to the paper by #Canada on #gender considerations. Take a run through all of the topics to see how your own research might help to inform the discussion and/or how you can build on some of these themes. https://lnkd.in/esjqSAaE

What would it mean for space research if there was more diversity in hiring? This was a question posed to Jocelyn Bell Burnell in a BBC World Service show I heard today. Jocelyn is professor of astrophysics at the University of Oxford. I thought her answer was spot-on: "If you’re recruiting from a bigger pool you’re likely to find more talent. It’s as simple as that. And that new talent can translate to ingenious new discoveries in space research." In 1967, Jocelyn discovered a previously unknown kind of star, the Pulsar. A Nobel prize followed, but not for Jocelyn; her male boss took the honour!! Jocelyn has never been bitter about the award, but says that today progress on gender equality, and diversity as a whole, should have moved much further than they have. More women are working in space research, but it's not enough. Listen to the episode, that was recorded at the Oxford Literary Festival here: #diversity

This is a very interesting case of people who know nothing about a subject, invading a space, and demanding it change for their benefit, even though they don't, nor have they ever, or will be, actively participate in it. They just want to raise their flag in conquest, and leave behind the landscape they've left in ruins. Warhammer 40K is a cautionary tale to all those who play it. It warns against fanaticism, blind faith, totalitarianism, fanaticism & extremism, dehumanization & demoralization. The WH40K universe is what you get when you take all the worst paths humanity is prone to traveling down historically and behaviorally, and take it to the extreme. Now here's the catch, despite being put into all the worst humanity and the universe has to offer, you still have to find hope where there clearly is none, in order to survive in a world you should clearly should have no reason to. With death, danger, and emense suffering all around you, you fight on. Preserving life, just for it to undergo exploitation & suffering, seems to be more of a reality of the human experience than fiction.

Ever wonder what your life would be like if you had made different choices? This thought-provoking video follows a tired, tattooed 30-something woman as she seeks refuge from the rain at the Museum of Alternate Realities. Inside, she meets different versions of herself who took different paths in life. The museum guide introduces the concept of "What if," and the main attraction is meeting other versions of oneself. The women share their stories, reflecting on how their lives unfolded differently based on their choices. The conversation sparks insights: Our choices shape our reality: The alternate realities highlight how different decisions lead to vastly different outcomes. Happiness and success are personal: The women represent various paths to fulfillment, emphasizing that true happiness is individual and cannot be measured solely by societal standards. Empathy and compassion are universal: Despite their differences, all versions of the woman express a deep desire to make a positive impact in the world. Unexpected connections fuel growth: The discussion underscores the importance of embracing the unpredictable and how it can lead to personal and professional fulfillment. Inequality is pervasive, but we can all contribute: The women mention social issues like human trafficking and LGBTQ+ discrimination, reminding us of the need for awareness and action towards a more inclusive society. Self-acceptance is essential: The women find common ground and inspire each other, showing that embracing our unique journeys is key to realizing our potential. Perseverance is key: Despite challenges, the women demonstrate a determination to keep growing and making a difference. Call to action: Don't let your past hold you back. The world needs your unique spark to light the way forward. What alternate reality do you want to create? Let me know in the comments what alternate reality you'd like to explore! #Wisdom #Success #Impact #Inclusion #SelfAcceptance #Perseverance #AlternateRealities
