Sorel: The ULTIMATE Modifier I'm about to say The Quiet Part Out Loud: the liquor industry has a problem nobody talks about: Alcohol (in its pure form) doesn't taste good. This is because the sense of taste is designed to detect poison. Over the millennia, the knowledge that alcohol is poison has dismayed humans, little. As a species we've spent thousands of years trying to figure out how to enjoy the effects of alcohol, without dying. There's a reason why alcohol is a controlled substance; why every bottle comes with a warning. The ancient Egyptians added botanicals to alcohol, creating tinctures. The Celts are credited with beginning the practice of aging alcohol in casks, to absorb the flavor of the wood. Over the centuries the methods of making alcohol more potable has become increasingly sophisticated. Big liquor's solution to this problem is to take vast amounts of GNS and simply add flavor. This is why we have blueberry flavored vodka, cinnamon flavored whisky, and jalapeño flavored tequila. Sorel Liqueur reverses the logic. Everyone else takes alcohol and adds flavor. We take flavor, and add alcohol. The difference in this methodology is what makes Sorel the most versatile modifier on the planet. Sorel does one thing better than any other modifier, in that it masks the taste of ethanol, while pushing flavor forward. Add Sorel to gin, and you'll get more floral notes. Add it to an aged spirit (whisky or rum) and you'll get more barrel notes. Add it to an agave base (tequila or mezcal) and you'll get more fruit and smoke. Add it to other liqueurs and you'll get pure flavor. Don't believe me? Try adding equal parts Sorel and Chartreuse. Or equal parts Sorel and Skrewball Peanut Butter whisky. 🍫 The Midnight Buzz by Domeli Coffee 🍸 ☕ Ingredients: 42.62 ml (1.5 oz) Domeli Coffee Gold Espresso (freshly brewed and slightly cooled) 28.42ml (1 oz) good quality vodka 14.21ml (0.5 oz) dark chocolate liqueur (like Godiva or Crème de Cacao) 14.21ml (0.5 oz) honey syrup (see instructions below) Large orange zest strip, plus a bit extra for garnish Ice Equipment: Cocktail shaker Coupe or martini glass Instructions: Make Honey Syrup: Combine equal parts honey and hot water in a small container, stir until honey is fully dissolved. Muddle Zest: In your cocktail shaker, gently muddle the large orange zest strip to release its oils. Shake it Up: Add the espresso, vodka, chocolate liqueur, honey syrup, and a good amount of ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until thoroughly chilled. Strain & Garnish: Strain into your chilled coupe or martini glass. Twist a smaller piece of orange zest over the drink to express a bit more oil, then drop it in as a garnish. Tips: High-quality ingredients make a big difference. Use a vodka you enjoy on its own. For a richer flavor, rim the glass with a mixture of cocoa powder and sugar before pouring. Iced Tea Here’s a simple recipe to make traditional iced tea: Ingredients: • Four cups water • Four tea bags (black tea or your chosen tea variety) • Sweetener (sugar, honey, or alternative sweeteners), non-obligatory • Lemon slices, mint leaves, or different garnishes (optionally available) • Ice cubes Instructions: • Bring four cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, cast off it from the heat. • Add the tea luggage to the new water. If you decide upon more potent tea, use extra tea baggage or allow them to steep for a longer time. Steep the tea bags for approximately 3 to 5 minutes. • Remove the tea bags from the water. If you like your tea sweetened, add sugar, honey, or your chosen sweetener to the new tea and stir till dissolved. Adjust the beauty for your flavor. • Pour the brewed tea into a pitcher and add a further 1 cup of cold water to dilute it barely and assist it cooling quicker. • Let the tea cool to room temperature before transferring it to the fridge to kick back for at least 1-2 hours. You can also make the tea beforehand of time and leave it inside the fridge to sit back in a single day. • When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over the ice. • Garnish the iced tea with lemon slices, fresh mint leaves, or other preferred garnishes for the best taste and presentation. • Stir the tea earlier helping make sure any settled sweeteners are lightly distributed. Every Gin should have a signature cocktail. This is ours - The Spiced French 75🍸 Named after the French 75mm light field Gun, widely regarded as the first modern artillery piece - this cocktail certainly is an explosion of flavour!💥 We tasked mixology expert Suze (Gourmetglow) with finding an elegant serve which complemented the botanicals in our Gin & boy did she hit the bullseye 🎯 Ingredients: 30ml Shroton Fair Gin  10ml Lemon Juice  10ml Grapefruit Juice 10ml Spiced Syrup Champagne to top up  Ice to shake  Lemon Twist to garnish Spiced Syrup Recipe: 100g Caster Sugar 100ml Water 1tsp Grains of Paradise 2 Dried Juniper Berries 5 Coriander Seeds 3cm Fresh Ginger Root, roughly chopped 1 strip Lemon Zest 1 Strip Grapefruit Zest Method: 1. Begin with the sugar syrup. Add the water, sugar and spices to a small pan and set over a low/medium heat to dissolve the sugar. Once dissolved, increase the heat and boil for 3-5 minutes or until syrupy. Remove from the heat and add the citrus peel. Allow to cool to room temperature. 2. Once cool, strain through a muslin cloth into a sterile bottle and store in the fridge. Pop A Champagne Flute in the freezer to chill. 3. When ready, add the gin, citrus juices and syrup to a Boston shaker and shake for 15-20 seconds, or until the sides of the shaker feel cool, Strain from a height into a chilled champagne flute to aerate the mixture. 4. Top up with champagne, and give a gentle stir with a bar spoon, garnish with a lemon twist and serve immediately. The perfect aperitif this Summer🍸

While the basis of a margarita is tequila, orange liquor, simple syrup, and lime juice, and can be served shaken, blended, or straight up, with salt on the rim. With thousands of variations to choose from, there's no wrong way to make it, and plenty of ways to have some fun and get creative. Cheers to the margarita! 🍹👏 In honour of the day, here is a recipe from the beautiful Belmond in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico INGREDIENTS 1.05 oz tequila ,1.05 oz orange liquor (Controy) or Triple Sec 1 oz lime juice Salt PREPARATION • Rub a slice of lemon on the edge of a rock glass -old fashioned- and frost it with salt. • Add enough ice in a shaker cup. • Pour in the tequila, orange liqueur or triple sec and lime juice. • Shake well and serve. TIPS • To make a frozen margarita, simply blend the ice and ingredients together. • If you want to add flavors to your margarita, blend the fruit of your choice with natural syrup and serve this mixture as desired.
