Climbing to the top can be tough! Which is why it’s important to NOT do it alone. One of the reasons why Jawbone UP's fitness tracker failed to make it to the top was because they tried to do it without a partner! This affected its ability to compete effectively in the market with current industry giants that came after it. Partner-UP with tech-providers and collaborators in the field to put your ideas on solid ground before scaling upwards to the top! To get start, click in the link: https://lnkd.in/gyyT9E9n

📉 Is the post pandemic gym boom over? A lot of the behind the door conversations that I have been having with suppliers, operators and other leaders who work with gyms and studios are saying the same thing - gyms are struggling right now. ➡️ Foot traffic to major gyms were flat when compared to January 2023. For comparison, January visits rose more than 40% in each of the past two years. ➡️ Planet Fitness is expected to add 400,000 members in January, about a quarter of its 1.7 million yearly signups. If they fall behind this year, it could be a sign of things to come in 2024. ➡️ Planet Fitness is on track for its second-worst quarterly sales growth since 2021. ➡️ Planet Fitness reverted back to its $10 / month price after testing higher prices at certain clubs. ➡️ Xponential Fitness is expected to report its slowest revenue growth for the quarter since going public in 2021. Coming out of the Connected Health and Fitness conference last week, many believed that we (as an industry) are struggling to reach new audiences. What do you think can help drive growth again? It certainly isn’t accessibility anymore as we have more clubs, that are more affordable than ever before. #gyms #growth #fitness #wellness #2024 #planetfitness #equinox #xponential #24hourfitness

The fitness landscape has transformed, especially with the surge in home gyms during the pandemic. While enthusiasts (myself included) found temporary comfort in self-sufficient setups, the missing link for many was community and specialized strength equipment, often found in commercial gyms. Low-cost, high-volume models like Planet Fitness may lead to underutilization due to the convenience of a low monthly fee. It's difficult for me to rely on their numbers as gospel, as you can't deadlift there, but you CAN enjoy pizza on a massage chair. But I think plenty of others are seeing stagnation as well. So far, in 2024, I've observed a trend among successful gyms addressing this gap with a thoughtful curation of strength equipment, creating a unique and engaging fitness experience. The prevalence of the "influencer tripod" has a negative impact on gym attendance for some, and I think that's part of today's fitness landscape (love it or hate it). I'm excited to see how these trends shape the fitness industry in the coming years! What are your thoughts?
