As part of my Heath Assistant role in my gym I deal with a lot of health referrals in my area.. below is an insight of what I do… The Physical Activity Prescription (PAP) initiative across South Lanarkshire, is helping NHS Lanarkshire tackle major health conditions such as obesity and diabetes as well as mild to moderate mental health conditions. Research published in the British Medical Journal found that a green/social prescription can improve a patient’s quality of life over 12 months and help people live longer and healthier lives. Depression is projected to be the second leading cause of illness and disability. PAP takes the preventative approach to address mental ill health and related health conditions. It’s a great way of engaging the community in “regular physical activity” that can provide both physical and psychological health benefits. #Connect #Visit Collaborate #personaltrainer #physicalactivityandhealth
