Sometimes it’s gut instinct, but ideally, the numbers should tell the story. Check your payroll activity summary report in Xero. Look at this month, last month, and last quarter. Key indicator: overtime hours. If you’re spending 140-180 hours on overtime, that’s equivalent to a full-time person. Hiring a new team member can reduce fatigue, burnout, and expenses, increasing your capacity for more work. If you're in industries like building and construction, cleaning, or information technology, you're likely familiar with the Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR). While it doesn't apply to all industries yet, it's essential for those engaging subcontractors if you're in one of these industries. Here's what you need to know.

🛑 NEW SUPERANNUATION RATE FROM 1 JULY 🛑 . The superannuation guarantee (SG) rate increases to 11% from 1/07/2023. This means all payroll processed on or after 1 July is at the new rate. Any payroll processsed on or before 30 June, even if the super is paid in July, is calculated at the current rate. . Don't try to be tricky and bring your July payroll into June - this can have lots of other implications! ⚠️ . Check your systems to ensure the change is taking effect.
