The evolution of #internalcomms is a fascinating space within the cross border financial and legal sectors, particularly in the more flexible working environment we’re all in now - and we’re seeing greater demand from clients to support them with their internal comms strategies. So it was great to get an update via the CIPR Inside webinar on the Gallagher State of the Sector report yesterday, along with peers from CIPR Channel Islands. Key takeaways include: - being strategic, not just tactical, is crucial in earning trust and adding value through internal comms - internal comms teams need to avoid just being people pleasers - the remit of an internal comms team can be really broad - so be clear about how to measure success and how you’re managing data - when it comes to what channels to use, don’t be knee-jerk, have a framework and differentiate between what a business says it needs and what you know employees need Do any of these resonate with your organisation? Employee experience is a misunderstood and misused label. It is not internal communications, it’s not benefits, it is not IT systems, nor is it pool tables and free beer, writes Niall Ryan. Read or listen here: https://lnkd.in/esNXr7xa #PR #communications #business #USA #UK

Just had a great conversation where we discussed the importance of #internalcommunications #employeecommunications. While so many companies separate it from the work the #comms or #PR team does, the reality is, comms teams should be involved, especially when it comes to high-stakes messages (e.g., a lay-off). I cannot overstate how easy it is today for someone to take a screenshot of a poorly-articulated or insensitive termination notice. And, in the #tech world, where media can be highly sensitized to poorly-managed (or the perception of poorly-managed) companies, it's critical to have a plan, work with experts and have a [crisis] plan ready should something go wrong. I've said it before and will say it until my dying breath: communications can be a company's trojan horse. The way it is executed can make all the difference in a company's success. And, with the complicated environment we find ourselves in today, it should not be overlooked or under-resourced.

Is internal communications dead? No. Is it changing? Yes. Some traditional areas of focus are vanishing, new ones are emerging, and the skills required to prove internal comms jobs are changing. With this change, comes a huge opportunity. Let's look at seven reasons why traditional #InternalComms could be on the way out, and what practitioners can do to build and shape the industry so it’s ready for its next exciting era: 1. Identity crisis 2. Do we have a business strategy? 3. Cameo, not centre-stage 4. Curator or creator? 5. Talked ourselves into a corner 6. Taken too much on 7. A little more conversation Dive deeper into these reasons below 👇 #InternalComms #EmployeeExperience

An unfilled gap in your communications team? A change programme without dedicated comms or change resource? A pending maternity leave in the media team to cover? A new business leader to offer internal comms support to? Etc... etc... (Sound familiar?) Sometimes it's possible just to shuffle your resource around in the short-term, perhaps reprioritise a few initiatives, let a few things take a back seat, that sort of things... or perhaps - deep breath! - just soak up the extra workload for a period of time; it'll be fine, right? Well, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the repercussions and risks are simply too significant to just 'muddle through'. Sometimes a lack of resource - the right resource - isn't manageable and will impact you, your team/function, and the business itself. But what then? How on earth do you fix things, quickly, properly, alongside the busier day-job and in the absence of additional perm head count? If your communications team has a 'hole', VMA GROUP can help. Whatever shape or size of hole, I or the wider team here will immediately know someone perfect to help out on an interim basis. We spend our lives talking to comms pros, and keep current with who is available, or coming available. We're likely already to be talking to just the person you need. If your communications team needs short-term support, immediately, get in touch today and let us take the pain away: mmuscroft@vmagroup.com #interimmanagement #internalcommunications #externalcommunications #changecommunications
