Real talk: I like to talk about our space at great length, but if you're not reading TVREV and/or Alan Wolk or following the seminal work by Evan Shapīro , you're just not paying enough attention to the space. Consider it required reading *before* posting commentary about the media landscape - online forums like LinkedIn make a fine marketplace to share an opinion, but like a particular body part, everyone has one. Your takeaway here should be that the right way to be a thought leader in this space is instead of just opining, pointing out how something is broken or sub-optimal, make a clear and actionable recommendation instead. See below for an example of how it's done right:

Who knows the ins and outs of every back alley? Who is comfortable in seedy underbellies of society and then can shift gears to a CEO seminar? Your friendly neighborhood photog. Here are 3 skills an experienced photojournalist has that are so secret, even he might not know he has them. 1️⃣ Deal with ego and help everybody look good (even the egotistical). TV reporters often have dreamt about being on TV for all their lives. Business and community leaders must have an exaggerated sense of self to be successful. Photojournalists are able to put aside what might be obnoxious qualities of almost everyone to find the qualities that are attractive, and make sure those are what comes through. 2️⃣ They know where everything is. TV photojournalists are assigned shoots all over their market and beyond. Even when they are assigned a reporter to go with, most of the time the photog does the driving. Need to know where a local attraction is? A photog can get there without an app. Where to park for anything, the photog knows the best spot. A public bathroom that is actually clean? A photog knows them all. 3️⃣ Meets deadlines. TV👏 Journalists👏 Eat👏 Deadlines👏 For👏 Breakfast👏. Everything is on a deadline when you are in TV and photogs often get a list of assignments when they hit the door. 9:30 interview on the SW side, 10:15 ribbon cutting on the NE, Meet a reporter at 11:00 on the SE side for a 2hr shoot, and breaking news always happens when you are already busy. Then write and edit to get it online ASAP.

Author: The Business Exit Blueprint - How to grow a valuable, sellable, and sought-after business so you can exit happy, wealthy, and regret-free (whenever you want) | Growth & Exit Strategies | Rubbish Hockey Player
Ever had one of those old, finicky TV sets? You know, the ones where you'd practically have to stand on one leg and hold the antenna just right to get a clear picture? That's exactly how it can feel running a business. Just like that TV, if you're not constantly there, tweaking and adjusting, everything goes haywire. You want your business to operate like a sleek smart TV - all intuitive and independent. But no, there you are, the indispensable human remote, without whom the whole show grinds to a halt. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Every single day, your presence becomes the lifeblood, the essential component, without which the static takes over. And that constant need to be 'on' doesn't just sap our energy; it ties us down, preventing us from exploring new opportunities or even taking a well-deserved break. If that's how you're feeling, and you want to transform your business into the equivalent of a smart TV, message me for a chat.

CNN and Arise News Leave Viewers in the Dark for a Week Imagine CNN, Arise TV, and Instablog went silent for a week. No updates, no news. Then suddenly, they start being inconsistent. Would you take them seriously? You would likely question their reliability and commitment. That's exactly how your subscribers feel when they don't see your emails regularly. Day 5: Inconsistent email sending frequency is a common challenge that many businesses face, leading to confusion, disengagement, and missed opportunities. one week, you are bombarding your subscribers with daily emails, and the next, you go radio silent. The key to overcoming this challenge is simple yet powerful Establish a regular email schedule Treat your email communications like a reliable friend who shows up at the same time every day, providing valuable insights, updates, and offers. By setting clear expectations and maintaining consistency, you build trust with your subscribers, keeping them engaged and they will always want to hear from you. But how do you determine the optimal frequency for your audience? That's where monitoring engagement metrics comes into play. Keep a close eye on metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and unsubscribe rates to gauge how your audience is responding to your emails. Use this data to fine tune your email schedule, ensuring that you strike the right balance between staying top of mind and avoiding inbox overload.
