Achievements. They can mean different things to us at different times. In this photo I am holding my medallion of excellence, I had placed 4th in the WorldSkills International 2017 competition for heavy vehicle mechanics. 6 months later I got off the tools due to burn out. People were telling me it was an amazing achievement but I was just remembering all the mistakes, all the points I lost, all the people's time I had wasted because I didn't medal, I could have done better, I should have done better. All the mental bullying literally exhausted my body, nothing was never good enough, I was never good enough. This photo popped up in my memories from 6 years ago when I was flicking through looking for a photo to use with my Friday long post. I wanted to write a post about goals and how they can help you, which they can when used right but what's the fun in that, most people talk about that. When you use goals against yourself they can become life threatening, destroying us from the inside out. It has taken me years to uncover and unlearn the thoughts and patterns and to be honest this photo still holds so many mixed emotions. To my high achievers and over achievers, keep yourself in check. Make sure it's not a mask you have on, that you are truly enjoying the process from the inside out. And if you're not that's okay, you're not ungrateful, you're not stupid.
