Welcome, Wes! We are excited to announce that Wes McKinney has joined Posit! If you’re a Python data scientist, you already know who Wes is, because of the last 15 years of his work on data analysis tools. His pandas package became the standard for Python data analysis and manipulation. His book Python for Data Analysis taught a generation of data scientists how to be productive with the emerging platform of pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, and Jupyter. When we changed our name to Posit our goal was to unify efforts around creating great tools for data science, regardless of language, and working with Wes is a huge step forward in realizing that dream.
Another development from Posit showing they've pretty much left R in the rearview mirror and have gone all-in in Python development. Sad.
Posit is becoming an absolute dream team for the data science comunity!
Wes McKinney and Hadley Wickham are the Goku and Vegeta of Data Science.
Bringing Wes McKinney of Python in to work at the same company as Hadley Wickham of R and Joe Cheng of both is like uniting DC and Marvel under the same roof. I'm definitely here for the upcoming Batman / Iron Man, Superman / Hulk, and Wonder Woman / Wolverine teamups that will help further accelerate quality data-driven decisionmaking around the world!
The best of R and Python now all in one place. We absolutely love to see it. Many congratulations!!
"Polyglot Data Science Mission" : critical mission #ApacheArrow has been the core of this for years already and has made possible great things with its shared runtime data format and the ecosystem of tools. Now used at the core of #ApacheSpark. Used Arrow in Polynote to share zero-copy data between a complex Scala data layer & orchestration engine and Python ML models and graphical analytics code, through #jep (Java Embedded Python) - real CPython. Then we have #LinkML, a data schema language and ecosystem that unifies technical data schema languages (Json, Avro, etc) using a generative approach and refines the schemas with semantics, making possible weaving #dataengineering and #datagovernance. See more https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7104524562687528960?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_recent_activity_content_view%3BuQOOs8TUS7GYiTpbfM5t5Q%3D%3D. The #jep polyglot runtime and #LinkML polyglot data schema are also key to realizing the mission of polyglot data science and #ddlc (data development lifecycle). A #fractionalCTO take For your consideration.
Posit gets even more exciting! :-)

8moAwesome news. Also, there are two types of data scientists, apparently 😂:
