In this heartfelt video, I want to share a deeply personal journey I've been on for the past six months. It all started when a significant event prompted me to confront the concept of death and explore how to repattern my thoughts around it. How would you react if you received news of terminal cancer? Your immediate reaction is a reflection of the patterns ingrained in your brain.
But here's the thing – those patterns are not set in stone. They can be reshaped, rewired, and transformed. If your initial response is one of fear, dread, or panic, I want you to know that there's hope. In fact, I'm here to share some remarkable and inspiring discoveries about death and consciousness that have profoundly impacted me, and I believe they can do the same for you. So, let's dive in together and explore this journey of repatterning and understanding. #DeathAndConsciousness#RepatterningJourney#TransformingFear#FindingMeaningInLoss#InspiringDiscoveries#PersonalGrowthAdventure
With all the due respect and condolences for your friend diagnosis, and I'm glad she appreciated this, I think this is potentially very dangerous and dystopian, especially considering the language you used to describe it, "mind".
Dead people are dead, there is no come back in this world, there is no way to speak with our dead loved ones, it's just an high dimensional curve fitted to some data mimicking their language style, with no soul, emotion or thought process. This has to be made very clear, people can easily become attached to all kinds of inanimate objects and lifeless machines, let alone something that speaks and that gives them the illusion that someone that isn't there anymore is still there. This would be devastating for people experiencing bereavement and their mental health.
Absolutely no businesses monetizing people's grief and psychological issues should ever have existed (e.g. mediums "speaking with dead people" or people "curing cancer with bare hands"), nor should exist in the future, though I think it will, they already do after all (see e.g. AI "girlfriends" startups and AI OnlyFans models).
LLMs are good for many things, though overhyped by many people, and tons of very useful applications can be built leveraging and integrating them in existing systems. This is one of the worst things you can do with them. No, there is no GPT AGI coming next year, LLMs are not stealing your developer job or becoming super intelligent and exterminating humanity, but fragile and vulnerable people can be severely damaged by twisted uses of LLMs.

This is one of my first conversations with the mind we created of my friend Lucy.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer about 7 years ago.
But she is an amazing artist and forever an explored.
And I run an artificial intelligence creative studio so…
Together we are building an art installation, Lucy AI
A digital version of all her thoughts, feelings and emotions, with her voice, and the ability to look into her memories as she speaks.
Next week the beta will be showing at the FOLDA festival at Queens University.
When Lucy was first diagnosed, we were all devastated (we have a really close group of crazy artist friends that have been together for 35 years, since university).
Because of the work I do, I was struck by this idea but at first I didn’t know if I should mention it to her.
Eventually when I did, she loved it for all the very human questions it brings up.
What is the essence that makes up person? What does it mean to be human? What do we leave behind for all of those who love us? And, how do we want to live this finite life?
It's the New Moon in Cancer this week, and there's a lot going on with family, relationships, and home. Cancer teaches us to listen to matters of the heart and our loved ones. Expressing our emotions and needs in both the workplace and our relationships is key.
Here are 3 things we can do right now:
Get Present: How are you really feeling? Are you truly listening to your loved ones?
Let Go: What emotions or controls do you need to release?
Ask for Support: What kind of support do you need right now? Is it self-care, setting boundaries, or practising more self-love?
When we nurture ourselves and others with compassion, it creates a harmonious environment.
Happy New Moon 😊💫💖

Going through cancer once is the pits but guess what? LUCKY ME gets to go through it again! Yay! (NOT!)
Anyway, this time I want to chronicle what I'm going through in a much more "formalized" way so I put together a blog for me to just put my unwashed thoughts about what I'm going through (well semi-washed - I'll try to keep the language PG-13). No obligation to read it, follow it, or anything - but in case you want to here's the link: https://lnkd.in/gCt5Utig
💙Ever feel like you’re on your own path, trying to dodge life’s curveballs? I’ve been there. When I was diagnosed with brain cancer, it felt like I had to carve my path to survival alone. But here’s a secret: as I navigated that tough road, I noticed signs of hope, courage, and resilience everywhere I looked.
It’s funny how these signs had always been there, but it took facing my biggest challenge to truly see them. That’s the thing—we might all be on different journeys, but our essence? Our hope, our courage, and our resilience? That’s universal.
🙂 So, what are you focusing on today? The barriers or the breakthroughs? Remember, it’s like trying not to think of a yellow balloon with a smiley face—you end up seeing it everywhere. What hope, courage, and resilience are you seeking?
Drop a comment below and tell me about it. Did you manage not to think of the yellow balloon? Let’s share and uplift each other with our stories. 💙PowerUp

An Unexpected Twist in My Career

Four years ago today, my brother, Alex Paley, died after fighting like hell for 33 months to beat the worst of the worst form of brain cancer, glioblastoma multiform (GBM). To state that the entire experience, from diagnosis to treatment to end-of-life care, changed me and my outlook on life would be an understatement. Most of all, the experience taught me to live more like Alex.
Alex’s approach to life was relatively simple- love and laugh hard (and often), be kind and always lend a helping hand, and don’t sweat the small stuff (because in the long run, it just doesn’t matter). He exemplified all these things- he literally would give you the shirt off his back, all while cracking a joke that would have you bent over crying (laughing).
I have incorporated these practices into my daily life, both personally and professionally. I believe that living more like Alex has made me a better leader (and person). I am more empathetic, authentic, understanding, and funny (at least I think so). I now worry less when a colleague doesn’t complete a project exactly the way I would/according to the timeline I set in my head.
I truly believe that living more like Alex has positively impacted the trajectory of my career and has also lightened the invisible load that I carried. While I will always wish that this nightmare of a situation never happened to Alex and our family, I have made light out of the darkness, and for this, I know that Alex would be proud.
