Twenty six odd years ago, I was born into a rather large Marwari family in Calcutta. My parents? Barely college graduates. Their marriage? 100% arranged. Their dream? To give their daughter everything they never had. Our director, Ria says a wonderful thing. “My father is a feminist, he just doesn't know it yet.” And I +1 to that very hard- because that’s the only explanation for why he sent me to an English medium school, an hour away from home- why I went to another city to pursue a degree he hadn’t even heard of- why he trusted me to pick a career, which after four years, he’s just beginning to grasp. This film is an ode to many such fathers who make a conscious choice to grow alongside their daughters, every single day.
